My house is filled to the fucking BRIM with roaches. It's been like that for 2 years. 2, FUCKING, YEARS. and it doesn't look like we'll be getting rid of them anytime soon.

I had a flea problem because of a stray cat that I took in and I tried everything. Finally I tried that stuff after reading about it on reddit and after leaving it laying for ~36 hours, I was 100% flea free. It's supposed to work on roaches too, and anything else with an exoskeleton. All you do is sprinkle it on your floor and let it sit. If you've got carpet flooring, take a broom or something and sweep it around to make sure it gets deep in your carpet. This stuff does make a mess. A big mess, and it's a pain in the booty to clean up, but it's worth it. The way it works, is it makes really small cuts in the exoskeleton of the insect and the powder gets inside of it and causes it to die of dehydration. It's 100% safe for humans as long as you buy the food grade kind, some people even eat it as a fiber supplement. Just don't breathe a bunch of it in...it won't hurt you, but it will make you cough quite a bit.

Also whenever I use a hot compress (or a towel that I run under hot water, I hope I'm doing it right) I like, squeeze my eye even when I don't press down that hard? and then my eye can't focus for a minute or two afterwards??

Also my towel only stays warm for like 5 minutes tops? I think I'm not doing it right.

Borax will also work well to kills fleas and it's supposed to work for roaches, too. I used Borax on the carpets in my old apartment when I discovered a flea problem and never had any trouble again. You can also turn Borax into boric acid, which is more effective.

The only caveat is that you MUST store the boric acid/Borax properly and keep it away from animals--cats especially. If you have a cat make sure you confine it somewhere you won't be treating right away. If you powder infested areas or in the carpets, take care not to inhale it and vacuum the carpets thoroughly after about a half hour.

Not only is Boric acid toxic to fleas and roaches, but the borax crystals themselves will do the same thing Diatomaceous earth does and cuts their exoskeletons. The borax will also destroy eggs and larva that might be in the carpet.


Edit: or if you wanna go the nuclear option you could just get some bug bombs and fog your house. Gotta make sure every person and critter is out of the house for several hours though.

If he could make sure all the roaches are out of the house before bombing, he wouldn't need to bomb tho.

I don't mind roaches, but I swear to god everytime we get them (usually after extended vacations) they go straight for my toes and rub against me like a cat, and I DO NOT WANT unannounced affection like that.
