When I moved to Dallas I bought an umbrella because it rained that same weekend and I had forgotten to bring mine.
The clerk in the store was like "Oh, is it raining? I bet you lost your old umbrella! That happens all the time - it rains so infrequently that everyone loses their umbrellas and has to buy more."

she wasn't wrong. It didn't rain for ages and ages and I lost my umbrella and now it's been raining like 4 days a week (thanks, spring) and I still can't find my umbrella AND I'm too cheap to buy another one because I KNOW ITS AROUND HERE SOMEWHERE

i always tell people that texas is like africa in that we only have two seasons - rainy and hot. it rains nearly nonstop from november to may then it doesn't rain at all and the world dries up and dies.

it's too humid to turn into a raisin

you'll just become sweaty and thirsty for the heat death of the universe (it's already a thousand degrees what 's a few more,) like the rest of us

The heat death isn't MORE heat, it's perfectly even distribution of heat. Very cold, actually.

Big storm passed by that took out my power for a few seconds. When it came back on I couldn't get my tv to turn back on. Internet says it's either a fuse or the power box that died, but either way I'm going to be coughing up some cash.

The other day we had a big storm about 4 AM (when I was getting ready for work)
I was climbing out of the shower when the lights suddenly cut completely

I WOKE UP MY ROOMMATE by shouting, asking him to bring the lantern by my bed so I can finish getting ready for work/get out of the bathroom
He was halfway to the lantern when the lights came back on

So that evening he was like "my PS3 died"
"Oh? What do you mean?"
"I tried to turn it on earlier and its completely dead."
"Oh, that's bad. That might have been the power thing from this morning."
"The power thing?"
"...yes? The power went out. I woke you up to almost grab a lantern?"
"I do not remember this."

so i don't feel bad about waking him up, in other words. really sucks about his PS3, though. :(

Miserable night.

It was a job dinner-thing at a restaurant to mark the last week of the handful of interns we had this winter. I was ready to be saddened by my lack of conversational and general "being a real person" skills like I usually do the 2-3 times a year I meet humans outside of work but I couldn't even have that. It was a crowded sports-themed restaurant thing with stupid hockey blaring as loud as a rock concert the entire time. You bodaciously had to shove your face into other people's and yell to make out any word. People acted like rabid orangutans whenever something sport-related was happening. I despise all sports and forced fake chauvinism with all my being and I can't stand loudness. I spent the whole two hours I could stand being there with my fingers over my ears looking like the unbalanced troglodyte loser that I am in front of my entire work team and my boss and I had to scream the usual partial truth about why I don't drink alcohol to my chief's ear. If I had known I would have stayed home. Blegh.

Glad we could have this conversation, Mom!

Basically, I can never try ordinary family activities like "calm, rational conversation" without it quickly devolving into cynicism and voice raising over things I didn't even try to mention or even really care about.

got a case of the ol' disease outbreak in the rabbits. lost three so far, two are probably going to be dead in the morning, and there's one more out there that looks off and i'll probably be putting it down too. fortunately these are all just the babies that i intended to eat and not my valuable breeding rabbits but still. there were a few of those i wanted to keep and im just praying they dont come down with it. so far it seems to only affect the younger ones, and the ones i want are older so...idk

it's been a long day.

Not waking up when my alarm tells me to wake up, when it's supposed to wake me up at 4:00 and I fall asleep at midnight and wake up at 8.

Mostly my own doing.

Today is going to be a long day. Litterally, it will be a long day so far.

How come I felt not a trace of social anxiety in fricking China where every communication was a challenge and every public area is super crowded and I could feel people staring at me because of my skin and hair color but then I go to the grocery store in this town I've lived in for over a year and I can't breathe or think properly if there's a person in the same alley or anywhere within my field of perception.

Because there's a subconcious fear that you might eventually stumble upon that person again and have to face all of the errors you've ever made in their presence all at once.

I had to ask myself that question (in different words) a lot and that's the best answer I've come up with. I think it's why I can't interact with cashiers.
