Oh, I figured I'd be getting a used car regardless. But I was thinking that some demographics, particularly the closer you get to larger cities, upgrade so often that it's not terribly difficult for a buyer to find a used car that's only 3-5 years old at a reasonable price. I would probably tread closer to the 5 year mark, since any more recent tends to have 9384729834 electronics features that I'll never use, and will jack up the price in a way that I will see no benefit from.

I have once again dug myself into a procrastination hole with an essay. What's worse is that I don't feel the usual deadline drive I have when it comes to these things.

At least I can try to have fun with it because the book is the almighty To Kill a Mockingbird.

Although the keyboard on my computer hates me, then loves me, until I plug the computer in and it doesn't do jack shit.

haha rabbit guy totally flaked out. he said he was trying to contact me and while i did have poor service all weekend, i got no messages or anything when i returned to signal. so idk how much i believe that. he never tried to call the guy who was actually getting the rabbits despite me giving his number and it would have been way more effective since i said i was going to be out of town. he was all like 'i will save the best ones for you and you can come get em or i can bring them next month' but i neither want to drive 8 hours anymore nor do i want to wait til november to get them but sdfgjjjjjj

Mentor teacher knowingly let me flounder with a lesson plan that the fifth graders were woefully unprepared for. And by woefully unprepared, I mean the mentor teacher had never bothered teaching them the prerequisite skills my lesson plan required-- foundational skills that they should have learned four years ago. He fucking knew there was no way that the vast majority of those kids would grasp even the first quarter of the lesson, and he didn't say a goddamned word.

HOW THE EVERLOVING FUCK DOES A PERCUSSION GUY LET FIFTH GRADERS GET THROUGH 5 YEARS OF MUSIC CLASSES WITHOUT KNOWING SIMPLE RHYTHMIC CONCEPTS LIKE STEADY BEAT, AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUARTER NOTE AND EIGHTH NOTE?! I mean, especially now that the last ten years have had actual fucking standards and expectations for music educators to get the kids up to certain levels of musical literacy? Kids from my graduating class, who left elementary school before the NAfME standards were widely implemented got more consistent and inclusive music education than this. Like, they may not remember specifically which written symbols go to which duration or pitch if they never bothered with music electives after elementary, but they can at least organize the pitches and subdivision vocally/physically, even if they don't remember how to read it.

I'm not sure whether I'm more upset about how far behind/disinterested he's let these kids get in a subject they might have otherwise pursued, or about how he knew the actual state of the class's musical literacy, and how my lesson would completely crumble so that I could instead spend 30 minutes teaching 5th graders a 1st grade lesson.

Th- that...

That's just absurd.

I had a casual guitar class that only met once per week for half an hour and those sorts of things were the first things we learned after four or five basic chords. That teacher primarily only taught English and Business until spontaneously deciding to give an optional guitar class.

I just how even why the can't.

Frustrating week at work. The whole application we're developing has been basically unusable (thus undevelopable) because some higher-up somewhere demanded that we remove a vital part of it without enough time to get a replacement, which means I haven't been able to accomplish 20% of what I normally do. Today and yesterday I was asked to do an emergency fix on a multithreaded process with no indication of what didn't work. Okay fine, that part can still be developed. But then other people come to me every 5 minutes to ask whether it's going to be ready soon because it has to work <tonight> and take 10 minutes of my time to tell me how urgent it is. I did what I could yesterday and I worked on it in similar conditions today and it still wasn't working and then the same guy who's supposed to be a tech lead kept bugging me with comments and complaints and requests and not helping in any way. While I was trying to make the daisies threads behave correctly, he was nagging me about the need to optimize the SQL queries.

"This cannot be done with the current technology we are using".
"Yeah but you could optimize it. All you have to do is expand."
"We have no control over the actual SQL produced by our [shitty] framework, this cannot be done".
"Yeah but you should try to optimize it. All you have to do is expand."
"The framework we use does not give us any control over the resulting SQL queries. This cannot be done. {Detailed and succinct list of reasons}"
"Well anyway eventually we'll just have to optimize it. All we have to do is expand."

Oh well whatever.

And then half an hour later he comes back for another round of unnecessary and counterproductive pressure and sits next to me while I type and looks at the code and tells me he doesn't know how the framework we use actually works. Then why were you arguing with me about what can and cannot be done earlier?

So at the end of the day while I was still trying to get anything to work properly despite being constantly interrupted, he came back to me to spend half an hour rambling about the need for better logging and I explained to him that due to the way our queries work we only offer a certain degree of preciseness and that I will try to comply to his requirements and he keeps insisting that I still need to find a way to provide information that does not exist at runtime and I repeat to him that due to the way things work we can't provide that kind of preciseness and then he criticizes the whole implementation and calls it fundamentally flawed and basically says it ought to be rewritten from scratch and then I tell him that there is no other way and then he goes on and on like I didn't understand the first 30 times.

So I end up working overtime because of his pressure to have everything done right now and I start implementing his daisies unnecessary logging with as much preciseness as functionally possible and he still comes back to nag me (after 6PM!!) about how precise the logging has to be and I explain precisely and exactly what I am doing and how it will achieve what he wants in the best possible way and he insists that it needs to be precise and I repeat that it cannot be any more precise and that I am implementing a custom thread-spanning exception handler displaying the general area and the table where the error happened along with an error message just for him and he says he wants precise logging (ffs) and I explain to him why it can't be more precise than the way I was currently implementing it [/would have been in the process of implementing if he wasn't pestering me] and then he snaps his fingers and happily announces that I should implement some sort of custom thread-spanning exception handler displaying the general area and the table where the error happened along with an error message like it's a groundbreaking illumination. And then he fucks off.

you fucking unhelpful energy-sucking sack of wet doritos

Grades below a C = No video games.
Fall Break + No Homework + Grades below a C = No computer access.
No computer access + 9 days = No up-to-date info.

Me = Screwed.

FUCK.

My wallet has gone missing. I've been bodaciously nowhere since yesterday so it's either somewhere at my house or my sister stole it yesterday. I'd actually be leaning more towards my sister taking it, but I had no cheddar in it so she had no reason to. Pretty upset, I really don't want to have to replace all my identification stuff.

It'll be ok. School is important. Sure there are some classes that are dumb, but it's important to try to do as well as you can.

If you focus and learn your school stuff, that means you get to be smug and smarter than everyone else while showing off basic knowledge. Like me!

But really, school teaches you how to learn and that's more valuable than the stuff you actually learn there. You should make the effort so you can do things with less issue later in life.

the diamond came out of my engagement ring

and i don't know where. there's a huge likelyhood that it came out in my yard somewhere and i'll never find it. so......yay. at least it was a fabricated diamond and thus we aren't out like, a thousand dollars, and im not married to diamonds or even white stones so we could replace it very cheaply, but still, ugh.

edit: and one of my new rabbits isn't eating, and now it's a race against gi stasis. the college will replace her if i have to put her down but there wasn't another one that same colour and it's my favourite colour so im pretty bummed. so far i've got her to eat some carrot and she isn't acting like she's in pain so hopefully she's just stressed and will be ok soon :(

I actually dug myself into this hole. The only dumb class I have is one called Individual Sports. It's fun and all, but why have essentially exercising be a college credit? I ALREADY TAKE 20 MINUTES TO BIKE TO SCHOOL. DON'T NEED THIS IN THE MORNING.

Now that I know Silverfish bugs are crawling in the house at night, can't say I feel comfortable.

My room is humid as fuck with both windows open, so they might stay in my room.

I am still rustled off that my school district off-limit's video game wikis.

I still don't see why. Wikipedia itself is total crap.

The only one that works sometimes is the Minecraft Wiki, but that's it.

It says that the wikis are categorized as "Games." I find that BS. It also limits the amount of info you can get on video games for anything school related. THEY'RE daisies WIKIS.

Also Awkward Zombie isn't blocked off. Cool.
