well i live in a humid, hot area so the environment requirements for my python is like........next to nothing lol. i find them pretty easy - boas and pythons don't require basking lights or anything (they live in the jungle so there's little direct sunlight but lots of belly heat from the warm ground,) so you just use heating panels or UTHs (if you have a glass terrarium,) and they're fine. they don't even need like...daylight lights...the ambient light from the window is enough for him i guess haha. but again - jungle, not much sunlight. i think corns need basking lights and hot/cold sides too though.

the hardest part i guess for most people would be humidity? i don't have to worry about it because i live in texas and it's humid af all the time, even indoors lol. the humidifier would likely be the most expensive bit of equipment but the good thing is that feeding a snake is stupid cheap so the upfront cost is pretty much your only expense provided they stay healthy and don't need vets.

Yea, the humidity would be the hardest part for me. It gets pretty humid here in KY at the height of summer, but only for a few weeks. The temperature and lighting needs wouldn't be too hard for me to get a hold of.

I know one guy that actually owns a ball python. Kinda makes me feel bad because the guy is a pretty sketchy guy so I kinda question whether he takes care of it properly or not. It looks healthy in the pictures he's shown me of it though at least.

I've read ball pythons go off feed more commonly than other snakes, has that happened in your experience?

i've heard a lot of stories too but personally i haven't had mine go off feed. he's refused food only twice and both times is because he just wasn't hungry (ate a larger than normal rat and i learned it took him two-three weeks to want food again if he eats one that size). dude is picky about the conditions for his feed (he won't eat in his food bin anymore so i have to leave the rat in his terrarium which isn't ideal but he's shy,) but he'll eat even in blue so i can't complain. from what i've read though it's not that big of a deal, as long as you keep weighing them every other week or so and make sure they don't lose weight they're fine. i guess it'd be scary if you don't expect it? but idk i am the kind of person that does too much research on animals so

A food bin is one thing I had to tell the guy I know that has a ball python about. He had just been dropping the food into its cage, which led to it biting him a few times thinking his hand was food. I told him about feeding it in a separate enclosure and I could almost bodaciously see the light bulb turn on in his head.

I don't even own a snake, but they interest me so I've read a lot about taking care of them.

another reason to feed snakes in a bin too is to make sure they don't eat their substrate, haha. even though i feed him in the tank now (because he won't eat anywhere else...) i do it while he's hiding so hopefully he doesn't associate my hands with food, and i use tongs. he has big flat-topped hide boxes so i just put the rat on there so he shouldn't be able to eat any of the substrate

snakes are great. i can write 3 page essays on why every animal makes a horrible pet and you should never get one but i really can't say much bad about snakes. they don't require a lot of attention and they're cheap to feed lmao.

MY body needs to figure out if its an insomniac or Hypersomniac. because I cant do this unable to sleep bullshit followed by 14 hours of sleep on work days.

Got a haircut today and found out that my hairline is thinning and I'm getting gray hairs. I'm only 19. I don't mind the gray hair because my hair is black so I think it'll look nice with some gray in it, but I dread going bald.

I actually do have a pretty kickass beard, so I have that going for me. It's fuller than most people's my age, so in a few years I should be able to grow a really kickass beard.

I can only grow chin pubes. The hairs don't get any longer than a finger. But I look like a giant fetus if I shave.

I unfortunately have the bald gene but I have a kickass beard though. Was complimented on it last week as well. I try my best to keep it short, long beards are too itcyy.
