I had been working towards getting healthier and trimmer and a good goal was my own birthday. Once that passed I kinda let my self off and haven't got back into routine since.

I'm getting on my own case again. Properly. Getting back to keeping a spread sheet of my daily activity and what I eat.
Luckily the work I had put in hadn't gone completely to waste as underneath the flab I still got all the muscle I built up. Further more my endurance is still okay, meaning I can get back into regular exercise without too much hassle.

i was woken up this morning to an email from my fiance telling me to get up, get some water, do 20 pushups and then stretch for 30 minutes

i wonder what brought this on. i HAVE been slacking at my stretches but this was pretty out of the blue haha

we work out regularly both in the gym and with calisthenics every week. weight training, endurance, etc. he was in martial arts and gymnastics for years so of course he's better than me (who bodaciously could not touch my toes before i met him,) but i've about matched him in a few areas now :P our wrestling matches are much more interesting anyway haha. he's still got more chest than me and like 500x more lats (i dont even understand gymnast lats i don't.)

also he taught me how to fight better using some of his martial arts katas (the ones that are practical, obv.) which may be his undoing ho ho ho

I'll probably post here quite a bit asking questions. The men in my family have a history of diabetes, and I'd like to avoid getting it if I can.

So question 1! Is yogurt really good for you? I assume so, but I'm sure someone here is smarter about this kind of thing and can correct me if I'm wrong.

It's food. It's healthy enough if you don't eat too much of it. Not essential to a balanced diet or anything, you can substitute other diary products.

Also depends on the yoghurt. Kiddie yoghurts are likely to have a lot of sugar. Many speciality yoghurts really push the pro biotics and are good for digestive health. Nutrition wise - as with most dairy products - it's a good source of calcium.

EDIT(Day one): Restarted and completed daily routine. Personally, the hardest part isn't exercising, it's staying away from junk food.

EDIT(Day two): Daily routine completed. I know there are others among us who also wanted to get fit. Where the bloody hell are you?

While it's not yet completely sure what exactly causes diabetes, we know it's definitely linked to being overweight, having high cholestorol and generally eating unhealthy. This is type 2 diabetes, type 1 comes from something else entirely.
If you try to eat healthy and stay fit, your chances of getting it will be severely reduced.

Yoghurt is a dairy product. Dairy products are recommended in your diet because of they are a good source for calcium, proteïns and certain vitamins and minerals. There's a good variety of dairy products out there, but if you're intent on losing weight try to choose one with less fat.

Like with anything, try to take it in moderation and balance your diet with food from different food groups.

You can take your fiancée(that's the male one right?) for a walk then.

EDIT: Had a big weekend so missed a couple of days. But it's all good. Routine completed.

Some one tell me they are doing something too.

(I don't like double posting but I think it's legit this time.)

Must be an intense routine if you're still hurting 2 days later. What do you do?

I just do a minimum of half an hour of anything that gets my heart rate up (cycling usually) then a few simple strength exercises. I can do it daily and not be sore afterwards. Though I try and stretch a lot so hopefully that helps it.

I just reminded myself about the boxing on Wii Sports. I used to go nuts on that thing. I'd be sore for almost a week after playing because I'd get so into it. Sometimes I'm half tempted to get it off our games shelf... then I remember how much it hurt and how I kinda like being able to move my arms.

EDIT: Daily routine completed, again. Kinda tired.

It's a simple routine of excercises that I do at home when I don't have any time to go to the gym. It's a set of excercises like squats, push-ups, crunches and wall-sitting that follow up really quickly. Simple, but good when you lack time.

Must be effective if it leaves you in pain though.

Probably not gonna complete my routine tonight, but got the main parts done.

Quick question, is working out only once or twice a week even worth it?

I can't seem to find time otherwise, but I'm thinking of making some sort of workout plan even if it starts out pretty minimal. Also if anyone knows what to include in terms of routines, that'd be good. I'm thinking just some basics, cardio and strength stuff, all that jazz. Prolly just some running (even though I kinda hate it), maybe cycling, pushups, crunches, simple stuff.
