Thank you, and yes. It should be "輝かしい日本です~!" Sheesh.

Anyways turning this thread into an AMA for the next 10 hours as I sit in a airport terminal and contemplate the true meaning of 友情. Please submit inquiries to my shoebox and if they're good enough I'll notice you.

Oh god don't do this to me. I've had abouuuuut 4 types while here. The salt based Ramen I had was very plain and boring so I apparently refuse to remember the name. Tonight I had Chinese spice ramen which basically tasted like Spagetti-os despite having no similar ingredients (or does it?), and I had to try Taiwan Ramen here in Nagoya because it was invented here (by a friend's host family no less!). It's got a spicy flavor and it's topped with cumin spiced ground pork and it burns so nicely on the lips.

But Shoyu Ramen, which is soy based is the best. I ate it like 6 times and I got a huge bowl with tonkatsu (pork slices) and tamago (hard boiled eggs) with a complimentary side of karage (Japanese fried chicken which is godly) for about $5 USD. It was great because I was usually starving by lunch since I usually had toast for breakfast. Best ramen, I'll fite you IRL, m8. Fuck you.

Wait what was I saying?

1. Yes and it was amazing. I'll upload SO MANY PICTURES when I get unbuttsed wifi. Kinkakuji (the Gold Pavillion) is the best and I have completed my Johto Journey.
2. I got too much cute shit. I won two mochi shaped cat plushes from a crane game, lots of Pokemon shit, some stationary and decorative tape for my niece and grandma, little cute "build your own parfait keychain" kit, a fish-tiger castle guardian plush that is basically a goldfish with American Kirby eyebrows, and a Kiki statue that holds a broom pen. Too much cute shit I fucking swear.
3. I'll mail you back your love letters lmao.
4. I went to mayyybe 2? One was a small shop in Tokyo Station's character street that had center merch and bags but was called a quick stop. Got a Station attendant Pikachu there sand cute fennekin stationary for my niece. I went to the Nagoya one yesterday in time to pick up all of the Hiroshima Magikarp/Gyarados merch, and got a summer Matsuri Pikachu and Pokemon Hanafuda cards. It was great but my poor wallet...
5. Pokemon are so real dude. I'm now an official Johto professor and can give out starters. Unfortunately you have to be 10-16 to start your journey with one of my mons, soooo...

Usually either nothing or this really fluffy whipped peanut butter that tastes like cloud sex. Though I also had cheese toast in Tokyo and I loved it. There are shitloads of bakeries everywhere in Japan and my favorite thing from them are these huge rolls with Apple and light cream cheese filling. It's really great and I'm going to miss it along with everything else in Japan OH GOD WHY AM I LEAVING HELP. SOMEONE SEND ME cheddar SO I MAY LIVE HERE FOREVER.

1. Do Japanese cities smell different than American cities?
2. What was the baka gaijin-est thing you did?

Do you feel safe now that shazza has shown her fascination with collecting skulls?

Will you purchase a helmet so she can't get your skull?

1. Generally there is no smell. The only smells I've noticed are from food and the very occasional spot someone rustled in the corner. Trash cans don't even really smell and unless you're in a traditional style Japanese bathroom (Read:NEVER EVER) there's no smell. It's a bit weird now that I think about it.
2. Existed. The Gaijin bubble, the term used for the extra space Japanese people put between themselves and foreigners is very true, especially in Nagoya. For most people they seem to do it to be courteous and to ensure they don't bump into you and get into a difficult situation to explain. Others hold your foreignness against you. Keep in mind that if you hear Gaikokujin they're giving you some respect while acknowledging you aren't Japanese, but a lot of people whisper about gaijin, and that's usually when you know they're casting some Sakura tree shade your way. They will also tend to hold you to a higher standard than other Japanese people. Like there are rules on the local trains not to eat or drink. I drank water once because I was dying and I could hear someone basically tsk about it behind me while their friend was eating Subway. Japanese people still notice when other Japanese do not follow the rules, but they do not like confrontation and they are not allowed to criticize eachother in front of a guest to their country. Plus they can be a bit racist too. Most people are indifferent or really nice though, especially clerks when you mishear, so don't be too afraid, just realize that people will be painfully aware that you are an outsider and that can be jarring.
