"Kare wa Chopstix desu" = "He is Chopstix". 'Kare' means he, 'wa' (spelled ha) is a particle, and 'desu' connects 'kare' and 'chopstix'.

The rule applies to sentences like "Watashi wa Cori desu". It means "I am Cori".

Thing is "Kare wa Chopstix" would mean the same, just really informal. The ha is more important for the meaning, even though that's also not really translatable.
Japanese is weird.

Any language is weird if judged by another language's standards. I find it weird that so many languages make use of genders, especially when talking about inanimate objects, while someone whose native language is French or German might find it bizarre that Finnish has no genders of any kind.
