The problem is, people think sweeping change will occur with an election. Change of power, promises for a better future, and hey new leader and fresh congress. Bound to get some change. But when it doesn't, when the change is small or incremental, it feels like we've been robbed. It's the difference between watching actual forensic science and CSI's "wait hair rhymes with Blaire. She's the murderer!" approach. The actual is never as simple as the ideal.

Worse, when sweeping changes occur, it can cause wider backlash and bigger problems than gradual change. There is no telling at this point what kind of change Trump will actually bring. But the thing that is much more likely is that the power vacuum between him and the next president (be it in 4 or 8 years due to incumbency being a hard thing to shake). With millennials emboldened and in greater voting numbers, if their choice gets elected, there will be a wider gap spanning between the policies and ideals of Trump and the new president voted in by millennials, and that's when the real growing pains are going to set in.

Blaming third party voters for Trump's win is really booty backward imo. If anything it's precisely this attitude of deriding everyone who doesn't support your candidate that cost the Democrats this election. There is a certain fraction of the left in the US that seems incapable of adult discussion and instead resorts to namecalling and outrage whenever someone disagrees with them. The increasing prevalence of this attitude has now said progressiveness in the US back by maybe a decade (time will tell I suppose). And yes, the right is just as bad, but that doesn't excuse the behaviour of either group. You would think that a group that prides itself on "tolerance" would be more open-minded instead of fixating itself on preset morals and ideals with no room for discussion.

Note: The above is not directed at any one in particular at this forum. I'd like to think we're all level-headed people here. Rather, it's directed towards the vocal minority that most often rears it's head on the internet as well as the bias and tone displayed in Democrat controlled and left-leaning media in the US. And because it bears repeating, the same applies to the right. I just had higher expectations for the left, and I unfortunately think they can't get away with an aggressive uncompromising attitude like the right has been able to this time.

I find it very humorously ironic that there's now a bunch of anti trump protests going on, when everyone was afraid of the anti hillary protests. Seems to be a lot of hate, seen a video of a guy get beat up and car stolen because he supported trump, how scary.

I'm personally referring to the people who abstained/voted in spite/didn't even register to protest the candidates but wish they had voted Hillary because they never imagined that Trump would win. There's a good number feeling guilty that they didn't contribute to stopping Trump, and there are others among them mad at people who voted Hillary for not doing enough to beat Trump.

Anyone who regrets their vote now should have thought about this outcome when/before they were in the booth. So yes they are culpable for how they vote. We all are responsible for our actions in this election.

Can we all appreciate the 11,000 votes for Harambe though?

I was actually just wondering how many people went through with that. Is it an official count?

I keep trying to write something in response to this, but it always ends up too (let's not mince words) stupid for this thread. Take it as you will.
