Sorry, was at work so I just kinda wrote it down. What I meant was that, we can shit talk both sides now, but in a couple of days one of them will win (Hillary) and it bodaciously won't matter how bad the other one was/is. Unless the threats from Trump supporters about a civil war is true, but I don't think so.

My thoughts on the election:
I feel that a Clinton Administration and a decent amount of Democrats gaining seats in the U.S. Congress, tempered by an unwillingness to anger Bernie supporters (who have continued on and started a few grassroots movements of their own, I believe), is the best chance to give America a "buffer of dignity" that it can use to take the time to solve complex issues revolving around the economic class problems that both Trump and Sanders have brought to the forefront in different ways. I worry that Trump winning the election could light a fire under the seats of the lame-duck session of Congress, getting them to redouble their efforts to pass politically unpopular legislation like our official ratification of the TPP.

It's also become clear to me that the largest chunks of Trump's biggest supporters are arguing for his election based off of things such as their race (please read the article, it's genuinely nuanced in its argument) and the wrong-time wrong-place fumbles of high-powered federal officials who want to maintain their credibility. There's also a group that seems to want him to be elected for reasons like "Hey, at least something interesting will happen", which is probably the worst reason of all. The issues that Sanders and Trump brought up (again, in different ways) during this election are highly complex and will likely never get their fair share of attention (let alone actually dealt with) if people wanting their "HAPPENING!!" get their way.

A shooter killed one person and injured several others near a polling place in southern California.

Germany accepts all refugees anyhow. Don't need an invitation for it.

I hope the Democrats learn their lesson from this election and run it back in 2020, preferably with an actually suitable candidate this time.

What I'm curious about is how international relationships from outside the US will develop. Media in Europe especially have been biased quite heavily towards Hillary, focusing very hard on Trump's negatives which of course has given him a (deserved) terrible reputation. As a result, a lot of people here can't comprehend how he managed to win. If Europe continues to hold an extremely negative attitude towards Trump, it's going to have consequences for the international relationship.

It seems Clinton supporters are much more concentrated in certain regions then, since Trump won with a very convincing lead in the number of electorates. Interesting observation. I feel like I need to point out though that 150k votes is only 0.1% of the total votes.

Of course. In actual percentage of votes they're basically 50/50, way too close to actually determine a winner until every ballot was counted in other countries' systems.
I have a big dislike of the election system of the US.

The high concentration observation + the way the map looks means that Hillary basically won all the high metropolitan areas, the big cities and Trump won the rural parts where barely anyone lives.
One could make connections to the average education status of those places now...

1: The Republicans already learned their lesson and decided that next time, they need to knock the motherfucker out earlier in the game. Virtually all of the representatives in his own party hate him. They were trying to promote someone who was born in Canada (which traditionally disqualifies a candidate) over him. I'm sure it won't take the Democrats too long to catch on.

And yeah, international relations are my worry as well. All we can do is hope that all of the people in the adjacent offices are able to kind of rein him in.

International relations and NATO support is what worries me, and I don't think Americans really understand how big of a deal that is.

I live in a country that borders Russia. That in of itself isn't all that damning, except for the incidents in Crimea and Georgia. The issue Russia has though is that they don't have any harbours in the Atlantic Ocean that wont freeze over during winter, which makes them vulnerable on the western front and reduces their ability for force projection. They do have a harbour in Sevastopol, but that could easily be blockaded in 3 different spots preventing them from using it in a war.

Norway has one of the longest coastlines in the world. There are plenty of places to make harbours and we have made a few ourselves. It's no wonder that Russia is stepping up their activities in the North Sea. If they were to invade and hold Norway they would not only get access to a large coastline, but also a large amount of oil. Both things the Russian war machinery desperately needs, especially since the sanctions for the invasion of Crimea and Ukraine.

Our fear is that Trump will step down their support of NATO and maybe not bother to come to our aid in a smaller scale invasion. Sure, if Russia sets their sights on occupying the entire Scandinavian Peninsula I would expect the US and the rest of NATO to respond, but what if they only take the most northern areas? Will NATO bother to risk a full scale war for that? The reality is that it could trigger an all out nuclear war. Is it worth it?
