FN also has a pistol, the 5.7, recoil is negligible, supposedly can penetrate an armored vest. 20 rounds, etc. Personally I am an advocate of the 9mm, springfield makes the xdm which also holds a minimum of 20 rounds. Ammo for 9mm is cheap, compared to other calibers, easy to find due to availability and usage by many people and countries, and the recoil is also negligible, easier for follow ups and headshots....Pistols are harder to use than rifles but easier to have on you 24-7, best way I've learned to shoot a pistol? The front sight is most important, I get the most accuracy putting the pistol on target, then I focus on the front sight until it is sharp and the target becomes a little blurry, but keep the front sight on the target, follow through, voila! Accuracy...Personally I like the M-4 with the right set up, recoil can be brought waaay down and the rounds are going the fucking magnets 2500 fps to incur one shot damage. Along with the low recoil and right trigger and you got 3 shots, three kills...Anyways, I hunt, interesting subject and skill...
The 5.7 is really a good one, actually I have one.
For sure, I've handled and shot the ps 90 and its performance is more than adequate (excellent I should say) , but heck even a 22 is good enough for myself (super accurate 10/22 with dot sight is my primary shooter). I guess I am just biased towards the 9, but even with ball rounds, its putting a 35 caliber hole in whatever you shoot, low blast for rapid shooting etc. In case of the worse case scenario I am sure you can find rounds for it somewhere. But since this is a hypothetical scenario (I am a frequenter of survival forums and practitioner) I would just use stealth to avoid contact (crye multicam and desert marpat are excellent where I live, even fools coyotes, which never make the same mistake twice), in the old days when the cavalry was rounding up my tribe, not all were subjugated, there are endless canyons and nearly inaccessible springs where one could survive and even thrive in the backcountry, I would think the ruggedness and inaccessibility (to everything: atvs, horses, 4x4s, etc, except for a climber/hiker on foot) of the places I have in mind would break down any would be pursuer (I have worn down clothes and busted down hiking shoes to attest to that) in pursuit, even access points can be cut down to bottle necks where a removable ladder would keep you out of reach if you were unskilled enough to be detected. We have mujihadeen at this moment evading thermal imaging devices so I know nothing is impossible. As for a real life zombie apocalypse, I am assuming it would result from wars over resources from the over exploitation taking place on earth (they are now finally pumping out all the groundwater supplying the springs I just mentioned, so even that is not guaranteed, water good enough to drink from the ground, even at rugged navajo mountain), many nations lands cannot support their populations and a siege war is likely (cutting off all imports to cities, whose surrounding lands cannot sustain them), the navies of the world are more than adequate for this (with modern weapons like the skval torpedo or sunburn missile). The result would be starving masses that would turn on each other for lack of water and food, numerous historical instances can attest to cannibalism in such dire situations. But that is of course something I hope will not happen. Anyways I ramble....
