Yeah, you should always try a little harder on the next piece of art.

A lot of people started watching me because of that daisies Daily Deviation I got in the middle of last year. Now I feel like I have to draw funny comics at least once a month but... I don't really want to do that any more.

So don't do it. Draw whatever the hell you feel like drawing. If you feel obligated to draw funny things constantly just to impress people you will never meet in real life, you will not enjoy it as much. Eventually you will end up drawing whatever the people in the comments tell you to, and everything in your gallery will be dick jokes and memes.

I'm gonna finish this four-part comic thing (which I really regret starting btw) and then I'm gonna focus on other things.

I want to start doing serious black and white style manga illustrations, but I have a Hell of a lot of reference sheets to do for that project.

I'll probably do a Pokemon piece or a funny comic every now and then, but they'll cease to be the core focus of my gallery.

I think it'd be a lot better if you didn't know you were being watched, or pageviews were eliminated.

I value the comments more than anything else - provided they're more considered than "lol this is so awesome ilu plz marry me".

Dreilex always gives me such thoughtful comments.

I think it'd be a lot better if dA had proletariats that would go in and clean up the shitscribbles that most people consider art.

It's hard to keep up with them all unless they had a full office of moderators, as in 30 or so, in shifts. Stuff gets uploaded to DA so much that a lot gets slipped by. The downside is you can't report bad art.

Perhaps they could only do it for the images submitted as "fanart" then.
Although, that category contains at least 60% of the stuff submitted to dA.

A lot of people go so low as to put everything they make in the fanart section, even if it's not fanart. It's ridiculous.

Isn't there a way to report something for being in the wrong category though?

I'm pretty sure you can report any deviation for anything at any time.

I think you specify your reasons for reporting the deviation once you click "report deviation".

I don't know that "in my opinion this deviation sucks booty" is a valid reason for reporting it though.

Any deviation that says "original character" in the name or description should automatically be flagged for review.
If it is Sonic the Hedgehog with slightly edited colors, the creator gets an IP ban.

I don't know why stuff that's in people's scraps comes up in searches on dA.

The reason I put stuff in my scraps is because they're sketches/work in progress stuff and I don't want them to show up in searches.

One of the dA FAQs says they're going to be doing this, and removing recolours or half-assed edits of copyrighted work "as it comes to their attention".
