As a dedicated subscriber to the New York Times + its magazine, my dad along with over 1 million other New Yorkers received a free Google Cardboard with this weekend's issue, which contains several Virtual Reality-based stories which can be viewed via the New York Times VR app on smartphones.

And you millenials thought that newspapers were a dying industry.

The papers I was delivering a few years ago were 40-80% advertisements, depending on the day of the week.

That's probably just a shitty newspaper then, the New York Times is full of well-written articles and not many ads at all. The magazine has a few, but that's mostly because it's a magazine.

In this installment of "Europe Hates The Internet", the European Union is looking at what constitutes a "communication to the public" which could lead to hyperlinks, the core building block of the Internet, being subject to all sorts of legal action.

Julia Reda, who is the last remaining member of the Pirate Party in the European Parliament, discussed how it's based around the ludicrous idea that search engines and news aggregators need to pay media companies for linking to their free content.

I become more skeptical of the EU by the day. I mean, we're by no means the worst as far as internet freedom goes, but Christ.

The Washington D.C. District Court has determined that the NSA's actions have violated the Fourth Amendment.
(don't bother trying to read all that shit, it's 43 pages, I just have it there as a source)

It's not like other continents have better track records concerning the internet. Also, this is a draft about a communication about a possible reform, so basically nothing. If you want to worry about something internet related, worry about TTIP.

This will in all likelihood increase the nationalist tensions all over Europe. I'm especially worried about how citizens in Germany will react to this, given that Germany has taken in many immigrants.

In good news, a tsunami warning was has since been lifted after a 7.0 quake off the coast of Japan, everything's cool over there.

This, unfortunately, is what I have predicted. And yes, this will further fuel tensions between the native population and muslims as ordinary citizens start getting worried and flocking to nationalist/anti-immigration/far-right parties. I know that is the mindset I had back in January.

Francois Hollande has ordered France's borders to be closed. I wonder if other countries will follow suit.

This whole situation has imploded to unforeseen levels this year. I can only wonder where we'll be in a year.

An attacker got arrested at the concert hall, he says he's from ISIS.

Edit: There's around 100 dead in the concert hall.

This is tragic beyond words.

And yes, ISIS have said that they've been smuggling in people among refugees, but there's no way of knowing if the terrorists are native or imported at this point. Past cases would suggest the former. Unfortunately, regular muslims who have nothing to do with these savages will be expected to answer for and condemn this.

And to think I pulled random pointless statistics out of my booty. What was the point I was trying to convey? I have no clue anymore.
