it's a contraceptive implant. they put it in with a needle but i keep hearing to get it out again they cut it out since it's just under your skin apparently.

i can't really find anything on it though so that's why i'm asking here.

To answer your question, Oh Joy Sex Toy did a wonderful SFW explanation of the implant.

if i remember right coming out is pretty similar to going in - in that it's a really small cut and besides, you're numb so you don't really feel it. i REALLY want the implant (and will actually talk to my gyno next i go in which is soon,) because 1. the brand of pills i take is SUPER HARD TO FIND for some reason where i live now and it has to special ordered which takes longer, which leads to 2. i often do not get it in time to complete my cylce so i can't have sex after my period and my hormones go all out of whack and i'm grumpy. knowing that i am always protected (so no more telling my husband "sorry, i couldn't get my next pack in time so we have to wait a week",) and don't really have to do anything is way worth a big needle and a scalpel every 3 years. i mean it's THREE YEARS that's boggling to me haha

I'm reading a hilarious thread on the myfitnesspal forums of some doctor going around claiming bs about nutrition. It's hilarious.

I don't claim to be a medical professional, but I think I might be suffering from depression. I feel isolated from my friends, despite being told by many of them that they love having me around, and I'm just unhappy in general at the moment. And I honestly don't FEEL like being pop flyin', even though there's no reason why I shouldn't be, and I know that.

If you honestly feel that way you should seek a professional

Feel what way, exactly? I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly, Chinmaster.

You should also explore the reasons why you might be feeling these things. Stressful events or situations in someone's life can often lead to feelings of apathy and depression, without actually having depression. You mght want to think about talking to some of your friends or a trusted person about the problems you've been having and what you've been feeling. And if you do feel that your depressed feelings are strong enough, then yeah look into professional help.

If I had to guess though (and obviously I'm not a huge professional in the mental health field or your life) you're probably going through a lot of stress with your recent school problems, coupled with what might be seasonal depression, and your dismay at not being included as much in your friends activities (which I think is a matter of communication and a willingness to be outgoing perhaps?)

It's pretty easy to feel depressed in your situation, Marcato, since college life can be stressful, especially if you're not sure what you want to do with your life or if you're on the right track. Friendships are harder to keep up with since you don't see them every day. There's a feeling of not being in control that goes along with all that. When people have problems that they can't solve, they tend to worry, which leads to feeling depressed.

Depression is like the "allergies" of mental health. Some people have it all the time, but a lot of people only get it every so often. Plus seasons can play a big role in how you're feeling; grim overcast winter months can really bring your mood down without even realizing it.

All I'm trying to say is that you're not alone, in fact its very normal to feel a bit depressed. If you think it's affecting your life in a noticeable way (staying in bed too long and being late to class is my current problem), then go see the campus health center. They will probably have a dedicated psychiatric service. It can't hurt and honestly it's something a lot of people can benefit from even if their depression isn't chronic or severe.

Ok, so just checking back to let you know I'm not dead or something... It went away after a couple of days.

It sort of felt like a combination of gas and the after-workout pain of like... doing situps/crunches. Problem was, neither seemed right as I don't remember doing any psychical activity at that time, and I used the bathroom, and the "gas" did not disappear. But after the first day, each consecutive day the pain/discomfort halved until it was practically gone.
