Yup, it's blatant hypocrisy. Of course, by now it's clear that most if not all of the "allies" were complicit in the espionage on their own citizens. But they're doing their best to cover that up.

A cop was shot and killed in Fox Lake IL. FBI was dispatched and over 400 officers were searching for the unsubs. Unsubs have not been found.
*Will add a link to story after the press conference is over

TV word for unknown subject. I'm pretty sure it's usually only used as jargon in TV, though. Never heard or seen it anywhere else.

The word that the media uses is suspect.
Unsub is used in certain departments amongst law enforcement, but isn't always used. Generally they also use suspect.

I've never heard the term before. Except for, you know, people bitching in Youtube comments.

Also here is an NBC news link to the story.

On the 28th of last month a police deputy here in Houston was shot and killed while pumping gas at a gas station. Investigators managed to find a prime suspect the next day. Another Texas police officer was found dead in his house on Monday and investigators are treating it as a homicide and are looking for the killer.

I am genuinely worried about the tensions rising higher here. I have an uncle who's a police officer and my friend's father is also on the force. I usually never worry about them but now I'm genuinely afraid for them.

Isnt getting shot on the job kind of a given risk if you're a cop? It doesnt seem like its any higher risk now than any other time.

It is a risk, but it is still tragic that an officer could get shot in cold blood while simply filling up their car. And right now I would say that yes, with what is happening right now in this country, police officers are at an increased risk of being shot while on the job.

Are you kidding? After a good centurys worth of unrelenting abuse, you think THIS is whats going to get people to finally start shooting back?

Hey
Hey, people who don't actually live in the U.S, and therefore are probably only seeing the news that is sensationalized enough to get reposted on social media:
Stop making generalizations that are just as bad as what the other side does. The majority of cops do their job. This isn't the fucking TV where there's a thrilling drama of a corrupt department that creates their own mafia of sorts. It's actual law enforcement. Yeah, there are shitty individuals, sometimes encouraged by shitty departments. Do we have some bad policies that need to be thrown out and rewritten? God, yes. But the majority of them go into the job because they want to actually do the fucking job, and then they do that to the best of their ability.

Hate the ones who actually seek to harm people. Demand resignation/firing of those who are actually incompetent. Let the majority of them do what they signed up to do.

System corruption doesnt exist in a vacuum. There's been plenty of evidence on both coverups, supressed evidence, and corruption of all kinds all over the U.S. Where are the convictions and firings for that? Where are the testimonies from all these innocent cops that everyone claims exist yet suddenly evaporate like morning mist every time they're actually required to point out co workers who abuse their authority?

I'm not claiming it does exist in a vacuum. Obviously there are some that are just as bad about covering up the others' wrongdoings. But believe it or not, in larger departments especially, it is very likely possible to have no idea what the hell their colleagues are doing wrong. And the U.S. is huge. I already agreed that there are entire departments that are likely full of shitty people, and those departments need to be cleared out. But for every one of those, there are probably a dozen others that legitimately try to do the right thing as much as is humanly possible.

Shit, even within the U.S., all a lot of people get is the sensationalized snippets that make it to facebook and tumblr. Not only that, those stories get replayed, and drawn out, and then people start assuming that those stories are reflective of an entire country that spans a massive amount of land, cultural difference, and over 300 million people. It's like assuming that all Muslims are hateful terrorists, and even the ones who claim to be innocent are covering up for the bad ones.

Does the system need to be overhauled? Yes. It most certainly does, along with many other systems and institutions in this country. But spewing hate at an entire group and making generalizations like this isn't going to help that, and it just makes you--and consequently your ideals--look needlessly combative and arrogant.

What I hate most about media sensationalism is that they don't calm down people after they turn out to be wrong. If people start rioting because an "innocent" person was shot, and they don't later report that they weren't actually innocent (except maybe once and then never discussed again, instead just moving on to the riot story), then that's wrong.

Know what stories I want to see multiple days of coverage on with no end in sight and no actual evidence brought to light? None of them! Dohohohoho!
