Wow, someone beat me to it by about 3 weeks...impressive.

I had to talk some sense into myself about a similar idea.

My advice? JUST START!

You don't need to learn how to make a webcomic to get started. Get some ambition, put in a little elbow grease and effort and you too can become a comic creator overnight! :D

It's not all riddled with success. You'll make plenty of mistakes, but don't worry, that's awesome! Making mistakes is how you learn about things! :)

Also, try to make your own brand of humor. Create the bandwagon! Don't join one! :)

When my scanner is fixed. Because I am NEVER using paint to create a comic again. Any programs I should look into? something better than paint, but free?

The best thing about doing comics is that even if you don't think you're good at it or have any idea what you want to be doing with it, you get better automatically, just by doing them, and will naturally fall into a niche. Keep doing them and doing them and you eventually find a style and audience of your own, like magic, sometimes even when you're a terrible person!

Reading as many other webcomics as possible helps keep your material fresh because you'll see how many good jokes are already taken and be forced to try weird new things you've never thought about before.

Swipe what you want from my stuff in the Comic Ideas thread, assuming you want Pokemon jokes.

That's nice.
For anyone who doesn't know me, I post a lot of ideas in the Comic Ideas thread. I don't know if this web comic thing is something I'm just doing out of boredom or a long term project. But if this turns out to be my future vocation, I'm looking for some advice.
