Either way, I don't think you're gross or horrible for how you feel about yourself, and I think all that matters is that you're comfortable with who you are. You haven't given me the impression you'd be one of those in-ya-face-about-it people, so... I don't know, I guess I'm saying you're alright as far as I'm concerned?

I think I want to talk about this now. I already discussed this with Sloth and Kira and they didn't think I was weird or anything, so that was nice.

So during my Sophomore(?) year at my old college, I was talking with a friend from back home one night. We were joking around about whatever and I don't remember why, but she called me a princess. I rolled with it and it became our inside joke. Every time I talked with her, I assumed the role of the princess and our conversations carried on like that. And eventually I put a stop to it because I got embarrassed by it. The thing is, I never told my friend about it, but I really liked being the princess. I liked the feeling of femininity and power and being in control. I'd still think of myself as the princess sometimes, even when I wasn't talking with my friend, because I liked the feeling that much. I think that was the first time I started wondering if I was transgender.

I actually take a sort of sadistic pride on consistently making people think I'm a girl because all my avatars are Rose.

I have that happen in this one MMO I play where people think my character is male since I tend to use a shorter hair style and wear gender-neutral shirt/pants outfits/pirate costumes while socializing (rather than the abundance of fancy dresses that the game offers) and thick armor that isn't exactly form fitting during battle.
It's fun giving the most vague answers I can when people start getting confused and try to get clarification.

I haven't heard the a/s/l thing in... daisies, more than ten years, easily. Also, is it bad that I thought Marcato's new avatar was touching herself? Guess we know what's on my mind, don't we? I didn't see her right hand was by her face, and saw her elbow was sticking out to one side.

I think I'm ready to accept that yes, I am absolutely a transwoman.

Maybe I should have taken more time before deciding this, but this is what I feel. I want to be female.

The next step will be finding a therapist and starting hormone replacement, I suppose. That's going to be a little challenging right now living at my parents' house, but I should be looking for my own place before too long, one way or another.

I think this has been really healthy for me mentally and physically as well. I'm perkier at work and I'm doing so much better with customers and I feel more focused. I haven't experienced nearly as much anxiety or depression. I want to start making healthier dietary habits because I want to be pretty. And I just feel better about myself. I went to see Age of Ultron and didn't care that the line was long and I didn't have anyone to go with because I was a pop flyin' little lady who just wanted to go have fun and watch a movie and spend way the fuck too much on snacks.

Unfortunately, it's very possible that I'd get kicked out of the house if my parents knew that I'm trans. And I don't really know what to do about telling my family, because as hateful and bigoted as they can be, I don't want to lose contact with all of them.

But I'm absolutely certain that I am female, and I'm not at all ashamed of it.

If I can be super selfish and ask you guys for one last favor, I'd like to go by the name Katelyn. Or Kate or Katie or whatever variation you all prefer. I mean, you can still call me Marc if you prefer. I'll still answer to that. I'm not planning on changing my username or anything. But that's how I'll probably refer to myself. And yeah, I'm still partial to feminine pronouns.

No, Marcato was just the username I chose because I'm a massive band geek and couldn't think of anything better when I signed up. Some people just started calling me Marc and it stuck. My birth name is actually Jordan and doesn't this all just make SO MUCH SENSE NOW?

I will say that going by myself was kind of nice when I can have my opinions about a movie and not have people accuse me of analyzing the hell out of it and why can't you just enjoy yourself, oh my god Katie you are absolutely no fun.
