I've recently been getting... I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it's like a cross between an irritated rash and a sore in my armpits on occasion. I'm keeping records on the things that I've changed, and I've determined it's either a kinda crappy body wash that I have and am trying to use up, or my deodorant is occasionally irritating it. I also know that they pop up where my shirt rubs on them, but I don't think that's a cause because one day I woke up with them.

I used to have a bad problem with deodorants, I'd get bad rashes because of the chemicals and sometimes I'd get really bad sores and have to stay home. This was like when I was 10. I had to have hypoallergenic stuff forever.

Then in middle school, I was about to use scented stuff with no problem, and it hasn't been until the past year that this happened.

The skin is PANK, sticky, and constantly moistened with foul smelling sweat where the rash is, and it's shaped kind of like an eye (oval with pinched off sides).

I get it for a day, sometimes in both pits, usually in just one, and they disappear for awhile. Then they suddenly come back for no reason.

Mom thought it had something to do with bad hygiene (sometimes I skip a day or two, especially if I'm sick), but I get them more often when I'm even more diligent with my showers.

It's just really weird, and I want to get rid of it.

This might sound kind of weird, but do you think it might be a form of "diaper rash" type irritation, from gathered moisture plus friction and a lack of aeration or something? If it's kind of puffy, wet and tender, that might possibly be it. I used to get something like that when I was younger; I had to use prescription strength deodorant for a while to handle the amount of sweat I produced as a teen or else things like that would start to happen, especially at the junction of my arm and around the edge of my underwire if I wore one. Just a thought.

Unrelated, my carpal tunnel is doing much better lately, but still reacts violently and suddenly when I try to do too much. It's hard to tell when I've pushed too far until it flares up completely, though; the only intermediary stage is intense discomfort in arranging or moving my hands, and it often isn't intermediary at all but accompanies the pain and numbness of the primary reaction, too late for me to do anything about preventing it. More complicated, the medication I take to help with my ADHD makes all of my health problems act up much more quickly and more severely with less cause, but I have to take it a lot of times (mostly it worsens the problems with my arms, and some issues with my spine that cause me to be prone to cramping, muscle spasms and pain).

Recently, though, I've started having problems with JUST my hands in some situations and the symptoms are a little different from the ones associated with carpal tunnel and it's given me cause to wonder if CTS isn't my only problem with them. Early arthritis runs in my family and I have a sinking feeling I may be showing signs of it already. My mother was let go from her job a few weeks ago and unemployment have been dragging their feet hard about helping us out, so we're dangerously tight on cheddar right now and I can't afford to have it checked out for the time being. I just hope it's still only the CTS.

Nah it's not a diaper rash. The weird thing is that it's not puffy at all, and it really feels like an open sore, even though it's not.

And that sucks about your hands. I hope you can get them checked out soon just in case.

Could be the winter blues... er if you're in the north.

I read that due to the low sunlight you get less vitamin D and get a bit down coz of that. Try perhaps going outside more during the colder months.

I get seasonal depression during the winter months too. I live in Washington state so we get a lot of snow and not a lot of sunshine. I find that taking vitamin D supplements helps.

Same exact thing happens to me and I know the definite cause is the deodorant I use. It's a type of Old Spice but I don't remember the exact title. It's blue and transparent and that's all I remember atm. Irritates my underarms and sometimes I feel a sore or something. I would definitely suggest it has to do with deodorant or body wash. Try switching either, or both, out for something that says it's a non-irritant and see if that helps. It helped me quite a bit.

For anyone who has this, it's usually dehydration or vitamin C defficiency. It'll clear when you eat an orange.

Sick days, yaaaay

I don't even feel that sick anymore, but I felt like absolute shit when my congestion woke me up at 4:30 in the morning. Just decided not to risk spreading this shit around. Kinda feel bad about it though since today I was supposed to go on a field trip to LIGO, a nearby gravitational wave observatory.

Oh whale, time to nom on an assload of Hall's and lozenges in a futile attempt to get my voice back

So I think I have a small sliver of glass stuck in my foot. I can't get it out, but there is definitely something stuck and it is causing a sharp pain with every step.

Find a pair of tweezers, sit down somewhere solid (no rolling chairs), and start inspecting.

I did, there is something there, but I ended up just ripping skin trying to get it, too deep.
