If it's where you've been trimming hair it might be ingrown hairs.

Though how big is "giant" exactly?

If the medications for ADHD didn't affect you, it might be because you don't have it. It's one thing to talk to your psychologist and counselor, another to actually get tested for it. Did they even say you have it, or was it the usual, "Maybe this, maybe that; this could mean one thing or something else entirely"?

Getting off the computer helped me quite a bit when I noticed I was having intense issues focusing. Even if I had to write a paper, I'd make myself do a physical draft/outline, which would normally get me in the zone enough to finish on the computer.

Late response is late, no I'm not procrastinating I don't know what you're talking about

My doctors are treating me under the assumption that I have ADHD. They actually aren't using the whole "wellll this can be caused by this or that", so they seem fairly confident. I did take a less formal test over inattention and hyperactivity; I had terrible scores in the inattention area, both when I initially came in for depression and again a few months ago now that the depression is under control. I think that's probably the main factor that should be a clue, the fact that the problem wasn't just from the depression.

I have been working on a huge variety of ways to try and focus better with my therapist and on my own. Getting up and taking breaks, turning off the internet connection or blocking some sites, making a more regular schedule, etc. I can still only focus for about an hour tops with these, and that's on a good day and usually under last-minute stress pressure.

I'll say what I said to my counselor: it's not the external distractions that bother me, in fact I can usually handle those pretty well. But I have internal distractions that are causing the real problem. My thoughts will get off track on their own, regardless of the situation. Instead of sticking to one pathway I will jump from place to place with little order. I'd like to think that actually helps me slightly with multitasking and things like that, but I digress.

I will probably talk to my doctor back home next appointment I have. I don't think that that expensive test stuff is necessary for a diagnosis (at least a preliminary one), but it is necessary to take the stimulants, to stop the folks that would abuse it. "hurr I totally have ADHD i need those drugs kthxbai"

Meanwhile I'll have to make do until my last final tomorrow.

definitely sounds like an ingrown hair. sterilize a needle and try to pop the head if there is one and then pull the hair out if you can. i suffer from the same issue and all i have found that works is buying undies that don't have an elastic around the legholes. lacy ones or the ones with just a soft edge like these:
Image
have worked the best for me

or if you can find them, soft shorts or boxers/boxer briefs work well too. i don't really care for boxers that much coz they roll up in my pants and make a weird lump but if you like to wear yours loose or something it might work

Was curious if I was taking too much of my inhaler, and after having found multiple responses to the same question that all contain the same info from different sources, I am using it way too much and apparently should be surprised I haven't landed myself in the hospital, woooooooo.

My doctor gave me a daily steroid to take but she was on the fence about whether I needed it, but until I move out in February away from an environment full of smokers (plus living in a single room with my dog) I will need to use it.

Okay so, uh, this problem is pretty gross so I'm going to skimp on the details.

Basically ever since maybe...June or July?? I've been having almost constant stomach problems. The kind where you have to run to the bathroom and ten minutes later you have to run again. It doesn't happen every day, but it happens numerous times every week. The weird part is that it only seems to happen when I am home. When I'm out at a friend's place or on vacation, I don't have any issue. But as soon as I'm home, I expect the issue to crop up again.

At first I thought I might have been gluten intolerant, so I tried to go gluten free. It didn't seem to make much a difference, plus gluten-free food tastes pretty disgusting (especially the bread), so I started eating normally again. My mom thought it might be lactose intolerance, but this problem surfaces whether or not I've had any kind of dairy product in the past few days.

I've always had a sensitive stomach, but ever since summer it's gotten noticeably worse. We have a water softener at my house and I'm wondering if it's possible for softened water to cause intestinal issues? It's the only thing that seems to make sense to me, since the problem only comes up when I'm at home. I considered a parasite or something too, but I don't even know how to figure out whether I have one or not. And I thought maybe my stomach just got more sensitive, so I tried to eat less greasy food. It didn't seem to make much difference either. The softened water is the only thing I can think of that I have at my house and nowhere else.

If that's your main suspect, try bottled water and see if there's a difference.

Another alternative is maybe there's something missing from your diet at home, that... holds it all in?

I might consider bottled water as a test. I just really hate buying it in the first place, though. The bottled water industry as a whole kind of ticks me off.
If it is the softened water that is the culprit, then I might see about taking some sort of mineral supplements.

As for the diet thing, I really can't think of anything I eat in other places that I don't eat at home, aside from maybe pancakes at my friend's house when I spend the night there.

That's it, pancakes are the solution. I demand more pancakes.

It could be a lack of something in your diet? I'd suggest passing this by your doctor, but maybe you need to take fiber supplements if you're not getting the dietary fiber you need. I have to take them sometimes because during the week my diet is fairly lacking in vegetables and fruits.

If it's less an issue of going too much and more an issue of constipation, you could try having laxatives on-hand as well.

I tried both the bottled water and a fiber tablet today. Hopefully I'll see some kind of change within a week if I keep this up. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do.

I've got a bad habit of picking the skin off of my thumbs around the edges of my nails. I'd like to stop, but it's proving more difficult than anticipated. I've tried keeping band-aids around them so I can't get at them, but after I remove the band-aids, the still-healing skin is all brittle and flakey and even more difficult not to pick at

any advice for getting rid of a bad habit like that?

Sounds like the temptation stems from the appearance of the skin, not your desire to pick normal skin. Try using coconut oil, baby oil, or vaseline to moisturize your hands every night. You may even choose to go big and invest in some Bio Oil - really nice stuff, but for a price. Once your skin is moisturized properly, it'll become smooth and you shouldn't have the temptation to pick anymore!

In the meantime, over-do it on the moisturizer, wrap some cotton around your thumb before putting the bandaid on, and stay strong! :)
