Actually, we still are, animals have all the teeth in the world, all the claws and wings and ferocity, but we have free thinking and self awareness. We have tools and weaponry and the ability to hate and wage war. Infact, we are the scariest and most beautiful animal on this planet. We have weapons that can turn this green and blue orb into a smoldering heap, and we have the ability to create beautiful works of art.

So, we're still the most powerful.

It is hard to beat guns.

That said, go out on a boat ride and see some blue whales and I guarantee you you'll feel very insignificant just for a moment.

Ah, but there is a thing that beats guns. And whoops we have that too. Missles anyone?

It's pretty fucking hard to shoot a swarm of mosquitoes.

Those are just really big guns with bullets that explode.

Humans are perfect because we have the ability to fix our flaws.

We have invented a flamethrower. Let me let you think about that for a second. At some point in human evolution one said to himself

"How can I set that man on fire, and all his friends, and not touch him"

I find it impossible to find anything on this planet that makes me insignifigant when I know I can build it bigger/destroy it. Space is terrifying to me. What is out there? Nothing or something. IF there is nothing, eventually we'll have to colonize planets but even then we'll still hate one another.

Eventually humankind will blow itself out if we don't manage to spread across galaxies.

This keeps me up at night.

Have you ever been up close to a blue whale? I think all reason goes out the window when you're faced with something so intrinsically mighty. Sure, before and after you can rationalize that we could so easily - and do - kill them. But when you're in the proximity of those incredibly huge beasts it's a whole different story.

That said, I definitely see your point. Humans are scary and awe-inspiring. Just not in the primal way huge animals like whales, elephants and bears are.

Well a Blue Whale isn't gonna fuck you up the way a shark would, in fact most people find whales to be peaceful

Oh yeah, sure, they are. But they're frikkin huge

And being close to such a big-booty animal has an effect on you, regardless of what you know of their behavior.

I find nature terrifying when thinking about having to duke it out one-on-one

As a species pretty much nothing has shit on us other than maybe certain kinds of diseases, and even then it's a close thing
