That video was taken at a trillion frames per second

That's very interesting.

Though, could the pressure compact the atoms a bit more to facilitate electron exchange? Atoms are mostly space, so it would make sense if the pressure could squeeze them a bit closer (without resulting in bonding), the conductivity could go up.

I hope they'll be able to find the solution to this, it'll be cool to find out how this works.

Oh no, necro/double post

Earlier I got linked to some Stephen Fry videos by a friend and ended up surfing youtube until I found this gem again:

I cannot put into words how heartbroken I am that I will never be able to meet Carl Sagan in person. He is perhaps my biggest role model and stuff like this is both uplifting in an almost surreal spiritual sense and utterly depressing when the reality that he is no longer around sinks in.

Anyways, I hope this video will make at least someone's day a little better.

It reminds me of the speech by Charlie Chaplin from 'the Great Dictator' that was posted here a while back. Beautifully inspirational.

Haha, the first time I saw that speech someone put the Inception music in the background. Not the heavy brass stuff, but the swelling poignant shit.

Silly eyes, why can't you overcome common perspective tricks?

I managed to see through it, but it was rather tricky.

I didn't see the illusion at first weirdly enough, it kind of appeared when he explained what I was supposed to see.

Fun with math: Find the mistake!

(sqrt(A)= Square root of the number A, . is multiply and , is decimal point)

Everyone familiar with complex numbers knows i²=-1. So i=sqrt(-1) right?
We also know that (-1).(-1)=1.
Take the square root of that equation and then you get sqrt(-1).sqrt(-1)=sqrt(1)=1.
Since sqrt(-1)=i, we now have that i.i=1
But ii=i²=-1 (see start)
So 1=-1 and 1+1=0

It's pretty easy tbh but I was bored.

Is it that when you square the square roots (sqrt(-1).sqrt(-1)) the square roots are cancelled leaving you with -1?

Right there. It should be sqrt(-1.-1)=sqrt(1) and -1.-1=1 so sqrt(1)=sqrt(1)

Actually that's a legal operation D-vid, you may split a square root in the square roots of it's dividers. Nice try, you're close but that's not exactly it.
