Madican's con costume once he earns a couple extra bucks and builds a new computer. Already been planning on it, even got the zentai suit in mind.

I think Blatant gore like that breaks some rules

EDIT: Nope, there is a rule about gore links and such but yours is perfectly within the law

Ugh. Wish that hadn't been brought up again.

I've got one of these on my porch right now. The web is distinctive. Pretty mellow spider.

Cracked had an article today about how the "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark" series is pretty much the most horrifying thing ever. Remember those, the "kid's" books featuring gory stories and drawing that make Slenderman look like a freaking rainbow of happiness in comparison? Yeah, those ones.

They mentioned Harold the Scarecrow. My friends read me the story of Harold the Scarecrow in elementary school. I didn't sleep well that night.

I read that this morning too.

To be honest I have almost all of those books. My dad gave them to me for my birthday a long time ago. Personally I never found them scary at all, they were more interesting than anything. And I loved the illustrations and how droopy and scribbly they looked.
I guess I'm more scared of jump scares and gore than actual frightening, subtle stuff. I read creepypastas like a champ.

But videos of that shit? Hahahaahahahahahahaa NO

Gore doesn't usually faze me, unless it's particularly bad, jump scares get me for a second, but don't really leave a lasting impression, but I'm definitely more susceptible to horror through implications and subtlety. So pretty much exactly what those books were all about.

To put it simply, I'm the kind of person who has a near panic attack walking down a hallway at night because I always imagine that I'll turn around and there will be an axe murderer waiting to slam cold steel into my face. And yet, seeing gory people or objects doesn't affect me as much because I can identify that it isn't real.

I'm fairly difficult to startle. Want to scare me? Leave something dangerous open and unattended. Whirling metal fan. Deep fryer. My imagination combined with instinctive protectiveness of children will do the work.

Yep. I guess in order for horror to be scary it has to be badly done.

Jump scares are merely surprising. Of course they'll make people jump, they're unexpected and sudden and often way too loud.

As for gore, effects gore doesn't bother me at all, but images and thoughts of real life gore does make me extremely uncomfortable. I can watch all the Saw movies almost unfazed, play video games about slicing people and zombies to pieces and being drenched in blood and not bat an eyelash, but once I happened upon reddit's WTF subreddit..... never again.... :psyduck:

Once subtle horror elements are in place, most anything can scare me, honestly. I nearly jumped out of my pants and clung to the ceiling just WATCHING game play of Slender. Narrow window of vision, creepy atmosphere, low undertone sounds, then Slenderman out of nowhere? HORRIFYING.
