I wasn't even aware of the pun. XD

Personally, I would be getting a new computer if I bodaciously wasn't poor and needing the cheddar to get into a private art school. Among other things.

It still runs adequately enough, but I can see where you're going with this. Even I know it's a dinosaur computer now, but it's bodaciously the best I can have in the forseeable future.

Unless I can somehow get a refurbished laptop. But I can just imagine the surprise problems.

Does anyone know how much you can fudge things like Voltage for power supplies?
My 12v 1.25a scanner PSU bit the dust, and all the 12v 1a PSUs I'm seeing on Amazon are a bit cheaper.

Will that quarter of an ampere (is that even what the a means?) kill my scanner or anything?

You don't fudge things to do with electricity ever. Bad things happen when you do.

Time to be serious, my Nintendo Wi-Fi USB has been stuffing up and it doesn't work. Anybody have an idea why?

I am currently using my 3DS' wifi but some of my other devices used the USB.

The computer went wierd when I was first trying to use it, it was being really slow and by the time I was on my own desktop, it was in The Classic format (instead of XP) and there was no XP option. I tried logging off to try again or restart but it looks like it froze, so after about 15 mins of nothing, I turned the CPU off and back on again.

Now, it seems ok, but there's one thing that's bugging me; in the Hidden Icons part of the taskbar, there's normally the Norton Antivirus logo, which I use as an indicator to start Firefox, as it signals that everythings is loaded and I like seeing it. But now it isn't there. The Norton wallpaper icon still works and says everything is Secure, but I want the mini taskbar icon back.
Does anyone know how I can get it back?

Oh wait, it's back now, but I don't know if it'll appear again quickly next time or take nearly an hour, like this time .__.

Still, any tips would be nice anyway~

If you're planning on doing any kind of digital art you might want to start saving cheddar now for a new (or new-er) computer anyway :< It's really hard to find any kind of art program that works with anything less than Vista these days unless you buy older versions on ebay, and those aren't always guaranteed to get your projects done if your teacher is using a newer version. Conversion errors and a myriad of other annoyances can spring up really quickly.

I had to upgrade my computer this year for that exact reason - I was basically forced to upgrade my modeling program and the new version only ran on 64 bit processors. Luckily my dad was willing to cover it for me and he insisted I get a fucking tank of a desktop but still. Art is a very competitive field and keeping up with technology is pretty much a must :/

Also I have NEVER liked ZoneAlarm. It always has fucked up my internet every time I had it installed so I just...don't use it anymore. Firefox + noscript has kept me spyware free for the most part and I can actually get online haha

most, if not all computers running vista can also run windows 7.
microsoft sells upgrade disks, too.

but for current/future programs you need 64bit Windows 7.

64bit allows you to use more than the 4 GB of RAM that 32bit was limited to.

My PC doesn't recognize my Ethernet cable anymore from one day to another. What is going on?
I'm using wi-fi right now to connect to the internet.
