Um.

Bible Bashers are people who are solidly anti-christian.

<.<;

As in they are bashing the Bible.

As in, Bible Bashers are the polar opposite from Bible Thumpers.

It must be a local dialect then. Or I could just be wrong. But I stand by what I said.

Well you are from UK, so hell if I know.

Maybe Bible Basher is the term for hardcore Christians in the UK?

Once again, a perfect example of why slang usage is dangerous when communicating between people of different nations.

Wait...

Urban Dictionary wrote:
In America: One who incessantly criticizes the bible.

In Britain (and Australia): One who incessantly promotes the Bible.
Wiktionary wrote:
1. (British, perjorative) A fundamentalist Christian preacher, who is seen to take every opportunity to talk about Christianity and convert those around them, especially against the other peoples' wills.

2. (US) A person who tries to find fault with the Bible, Christianity or Christian teaching.

Synonyms (Definition 1):
* Bible thumper (US)
* God botherer (UK)

Antonyms (Definition 1):
* Bible basher (US)

Haha I was right :D

GO MULTICULTURALISM!

I find it mildly funny that it lists Bible Basher as the antonym to Bible Basher.

All things considered Crawfish, you are lucky you didn't wind up dead :/

Where the hell do you live anyway? I know that would be ludicrously dangerous in my part of the States. Hell, in Georgia, I halfway suspect a straight person could get away with murdering a homosexual by claiming it was self-defense from the fag who was trying to give them AIDS. And the judge would accept that and let the guy go! :(

I remember like, sometime a few years back, there was a guy who beat a transsexual to death over the course of several hours, and used that excuse and got away free.
You... you're actually serious, aren't you? Not EVERYONE who is uncomfortable with homosexuals is going to beat them, possibly to death, or even tell them that they don't approve of their sexuality. It sucks you live in such an area where that is tolerated and is apparently a common occurance, but you should start wording things so you don't sound like you think EVERYWHERE is a massive "NO GAYS ALLOWED" zone. I seriously doubt you actually do, because you at least sound like an intelligent person, but seriously...

In something semi-unrealted to Kari's post: Homophobia covers a wide, wide range of things, from the kind of people who wish harm upon uncommon sexualities, to the kind who simply are uncomfortable with seeing homosexuals acting sexual in public. Whether or not they're even going to act on their homophobia depends entirely on the person, so if someone tells me "I'm a homophobe", I'm not going to immediately go "YOU'RE A DICK, YOU DESERVE TO BE DISRESPECTED JUST AS YOU ARE DISRESPECTING THEM". That'd be like if I told them I was arachnophobic and they told me to stop being such a bitch to spiders.

Edit: Also, I used to like Obama a lot more, but I don't as much since I heard of some his latest plans. Things are still early though, so I'm not going to say I hate his guts till later in the year, at least.

CAN'T GET MAD UNLESS THE SPIDERS ARE GAY

Edit: I realized I should probably point out I'm kidding, so I don't look like the biggest dick ever.

I'm Christian and I get annoyed by that as well. Most people get put off when someone is trying to give them a Bible, or ring their doorbell to share the Good news. I just try and leave people alone, and usually they do the same.

Hey, are Atheist allowed to do this?You know, pass out charts and scientific statements on evolution and time?

I don't see why not. If we're doing it, it seems just as fair for Atheists to.

Christians passing out text: Saving you from eternal, fiery damnation.

Atheists passing out text: Saving you from.. Believing in something we don't.

It kind of differs, being that Atheists have no real, good reason to try and convert people, while Christians actually do. Seriously, what's going to happen to you if you're not an Atheist when you die? You.. Nothing a little more than you would have before?

This was a holiday decoration at the Washington state capitol building last year. People raged about it and it was stolen at one point.
