There was someone I thought was sort of cute at a school event and turns out they're in my Sociology class.

Probably not going to do anything with that but its real convenient.

I was supposed to be starting work at 6 am on monday but a co-worker needed a shift swap so now I'm doing the late instead, which is a-okay with me because now I don't have to go to bed stupid early on sunday and I can just spend the day being a LAZY BUTT

In a similar vein I was supposed to be in next sunday which sucks because I hate sunday shifts but someone else is doing it now so now I get the whole weekend off for once 8)

Feeling good lately. I went through vacation hell at work (on some days 8 out of 10 people on the team were absent) and unlike last year it didn't make me desperate and miserable. This new job is so much better than the previous one. I get praised for my work and people from two other teams asked for my ~expertise~ (continuous integration and deployment) this week. The higher ups actually care and listen to my ideas on how to improve our development process and they ask for my input on matters of business analysis (which was a weakness of mine last I checked?). Also I convinced myself to go to a social event and it was minimally awkward and mostly pleasant (a shocking development). And I've resumed contact with friends I thought were done with me and got to pet a friendly dog.

Mobile page speed optimalisation. We didn't really do anything too interesting, our content team doesn't bother optimizing images for performance, so just by compressing images, using srcset and lazy loading images below the fold we made a tremendous improvement. But it also sparked an interesting discussion about the third party application we use to dynamically personalize content. Because that happens client side we have to deliberately delay rendering the page content by two whole seconds to give the third party time to adjust the page. Obviously this is terrible UX so we also disabled that feature above the fold. Not sure if the business is gonna roll with that decision though.

When I was like 16 I was HUGE into Dragonforce, and I've started listening to all the old songs again for nostalgia's sake and because I listened to all these songs so friggin' much as a kid I basically get transported back in time every time, it's gr8

Memories of being back at my dad's old house in the summer and playing on the trampoline in the back with my friends and going to the Santa Pod raceway and drawing ugly SSB:B pictures!

What's also gr8 is the fact I can still listen to and enjoy them even though it was a thing I liked when I was 16. Most things I liked at that age I'm embarrassed by, but Dragonforce's stuff is just a lot of fun and honestly pretty cheery, so I can listen to it without thinking "oh god I'm cringing so hard my face has turned inside out". I used to like Linkin Park a lot when I was a teen as well but I can't listen to most of their songs for nostalgia's sake any more because I just sit there thinking "jesus christ this shit is so angry and edgy" with the exception of a few

Hooray for whatever it's called when you associate a sound/smell/whatever with a certain part of your life!

Got my slightly (16 days) late birthday present from mom (couldn't pick it up any earlier), and man, it's pretty sweet. A horde t-shirt, an alliance t-shirt, and a framed picture of Dogmeat and the vault dweller. I can't see the numbers too clearly, but I think it's 111, so I assume it's the Sole Survivor. It looks great and can't wait to hang it up.

I took my first piano lesson today, and it was a lot of fun. My teacher said my hand posture was really good, and that made me pop flyin' because I worked hard to make sure I at least taught myself that correctly.

Still debating whether or not to invite you back in. The lack of remorse is making my decision easier.

At least there's another player joining so it won't be turned into a solo campaign for the remaining player
