It does look pretty good, and it appeals to my desire to marinate/add gravy to almost all meat I cook, although I have been going lighter on my meat portions the last four or five years**

I mainly just like having a wider variety of vegetables to pull from, instead of JUST the standard north European roots and cabbages. I wouldn't even miss the fruit variety, since I generally only buy in season, and up there, they have additional local fruits, particularly of the berry variety, and Lakka. Delicious lakka.
Which is virtually impossible to get in the U.S., due to import restrictions and lack of market (because no one knows about it because of import restrictions, which then further cement that there isn't enough market, so no one bothers to change the import restrictions, which means almost no one finds out about it, so that...) Apparently you can find it in most European countries, and sometimes Canada, though. So maybe when my friend and I start taking trips to other countries, I can acquire some for myself. Only reason I've been able to try it already is because my composition professor likes to fuck off to Finland every year or so for sabbatical/composing projects and always brings back several bottles, and lowkey gives everyone a small glass after spring Creative Symposium is done.

**The last few weeks are the exception, since I've been having to clear out the freezer for moving, resulting in most dinner meals being at least 50% meat. I can't carry very much to the new apartment, as it's a 3 hour drive, and I've only got one good cooler to keep stuff cold. I can toss refrigerated condiments into a stuffed cardboard box with ice packs, but anything that's more temperature sensitive or frozen has to fit in a fairly small space.

Where are you moving to, if you don't mind me asking? My one relocation criteria is "more north than Texas"

Tri-Cities area in Washington. Technically still a desert climate, but it's right on a river, and while not as rainy as the coast, it's way milder than the town I have been living in, due to being in a little inversion-prone area. Although I honestly didn't mind Spokane's winters (not quite as harsh as what I hear about from Colorado or North Dakota).

I'd rather it be more foresty, like the west side of the state, but I guess I can't have everything.

Ha, Colorado winters?
Sometimes winter lasts a daisies month here!
We sometimes don't get snow.
And other times have a bunch of snow days in one school year.

I'm from northeastern US, so I'm familiar with moderate winters

Texas has about 1/8 of one day of winter.

After seeing what you were going through with the sad topic I'm just really pop flyin' that things are turning around for you!
Honestly, just reading what you've said here as made me really pop flyin' too.

Took me way too long to figure out how to say that in a way that felt like the right way to put it. You know what I mean haha. :psyduck:

Past bunch of days I've read over the topic but had no idea what I could say.

Work was more than OK, actually. THey let me off early but the head bossman told me to still put in 8 hours for the time reporting. 10/10

I made 5-Spice Chicken last night in the slow cooker and it was pretty daisies good.

Used too much ginger though. I didn't realize the Five Spice we had included ginger or I wouldn't have added so much.

Finished moving all the heavy stuff. Just need to go back to the old apartment tomorrow to finish cleaning and snag the last few things, and we are done moving.

Wait, the one for driving a car? I don't keep track of ages much, but if it is the car related one, then consider yourself ahead of me, who probably won't learn to drive in a year by choice, and probably won't get a car 'til I graduate high school.

But on the bright side, I get to listen to 2 randomly nice songs from YouTube for an hour all the days I go to school, so that's neato still.

I like the new apartment, aside from the kitchen and dining/not-a-pantry being notably more cramped than my previous location, and there weirdly being no lights in the bedrooms.
Non-kitchen room size and layout is good, they have hard floor where it makes sense to have hard floors (for easier cleaning), the lighting is good, everything works, there's never a struggle to find parking, the AC/Heating is god-tier, the pool and grassy sitting areas are always well-maintained, none of my neighbors smoke next to the building, the management is very nice, and it's ridiculously close to everything except my job. Which is weird for me, since I've never actually lived "in town" before.

For real though, this kitchen. Can't have anything open at the same time as anything else. So putting large dishes away gets...interesting. (for fuck's sake, the entire thing fits in a shitty vertical shot, and bear in mind a phone camera's tendency to mess with perspective to make rooms look bigger)

Now that I will regularly have weekends off, Auntie Riku's Tiny-Ass Kitchen may make a comeback. I mean, there are only like, four people who actually post here anymore, but eh.
