Apparently, when I was doing rough estimates of my salary (since there are multiple sections to a teacher's salary in Washington) for the sake of budgeting the move, the numbers I got caused me to underestimate my income by $1630. Even after an estimated 28% tax rate, that'll still give me about an extra $100 a month for savings. Hooray!

I have the best neighbor.

On one side. On the left side I have an annoying neighbor who houses down his patio every night and screams at football.

On the right side, I live next to Toby.
Toby is great - He's super friendly and really sociable! Good lord does he have a lot of energy though - if we're every outside at the same time he bodaciously RUNS over to say hello and hang out.

He also likes to roll around in the grass and lick my hand

he's a dog
(he's a maltypoo and I love him to bits, the tiny fluffy ball of energy. I don't even know the name of my actual neighbor he belongs to, but I don't need to as long as I can pet Toby every now and again)

Neighbor dogs are best dogs. I get to see them while they're all pop flyin' outside, but I am in no way obligated to actually keep up with taking care of them.

I've figured out my ideal Pita Pit order.

Gyro on wheat
Grilled corn and onions
Red pepper hummus
Romaine
Spinach
Cheddar
Tzatziki

Good shit and the price isn't that bad either.

My fancy dishes (well, for me they're fancy. They're sturdy enough for normal use if I decide to, but nice enough to be reserved for special occasions, since I think the concept of super delicate china dishes is fucking stupid) aren't actually discontinued! It looked like they would be, and I was really bummed out, because they aren't sold in actual sets, you have to buy each piece individually, so I was still short a couple extra dinner plates, a serving bowl, saucers, tea cups, and sandwich plates.

Also, my main dishes (which were a set assembled by my great grandmother in the 70's, and as such, are ALSO discontinued) have easy to find, affordable replacement pieces from various warehouse clear-outs and people trading in old dishes for credit on new ones. WHOOOOOO. A few plates, bowls, and a gravy boat have been broken over the years, as well as some serving dishes going missing, so this is great, considering I seem to love blue, old ladyish things.

(TLDR Riku has officially become a boring old lady who gets excited about sandwich plates.)

delivery timeframe for all my orders is going well, except that my gasket sealing plastic totes are arriving a day late (tomorrow)

Cimexa arrived on time
air mattress arrived on time
Temprid SC arrived on time

tomorrow when my sealing totes arrive, I shall begin washing and double drying everything that can be dried twice
everything else... i guess its going into longterm storage to kill any fucking bedbugs in it

6-18 months (depending on climate) to kill all bed bugs by starvation

they're such assholes

maybe this isn't a pop flyin' post thread, but since i cimexad and sprayed my entire apartment with alcohol, I saw 2 bugs - one mid development, one nymph
and now I've sprayed today, inside and outside
so they can fuck offfff
i threw out my bed, chair, table, going to also unload a dresser tomorrow

that's the mistake these bed bugs made

i dont give a shit about anything
i'll set myself on fire if it helps

it would help

i did consider suicide on the first night after reading really distressing stories
but its going well so we'll see if it comes to that later

Yunno how it has been summer for the past few months?
I've woken up this morning to find that outside, it is 55 degrees with 98% humidity.

It's sooooooo nice... I wish every morning I woke up to go to school was this nice.

I can tell I'm an adult now because I've been looking at desk organizers and shit on Amazon and getting really excited

Well I bought a nice matching set, one piece for my computer desk at home and two for work. Plus a dress that I really hope will fit me, and some Bluetooth adapters so I can play music from my PC to the soundbar.

Getting nice things makes me pop flyin'. If I can just ignore the cheddar-spending-guilt.

My boss gave me Sunday off and I already had Saturday off so now I get two days in a row off for the first time in months AND it's a weekend! I'm going to sleep the whole time.

I got that desk organizer. My clutter has never been so contained.

Now all I need is to dust off my desk... later

The place that I'm moving to is apparently cloudy on a fairly regular basis (almost half the time). This is good news for me, who adores the dreary weather, as I get headaches/sunburns rather quickly in bright sunlight, even with sunglasses/sunscreen, and the cooler color tones that are emphasized in overcast lighting are just much more energizing for me (at least, I'm guessing it has to do with the lighting tone. Might be something to do with air pressure or idk).
Granted, this is according to a neutral website, while the town's own website boasts "300+ sunny days!" which could actually mean whole days with minimal cloud cover, or it could mean "It didn't rain for more than five minutes, and you could always see blue in at least one corner of the sky. PEOPLE LIKE SUNNY WEATHER, RIGHT? PLS MOVE HERE."

Gross, the sun

I want to live in Bergen or Tromsø for that exact reason - Bergen because of an average of 235 rainy days per year (<3) and it rained every day from 29 October 2006 to 21 January 2007, 85 consecutive days (thanks Wikipedia) and that sounds wonderful!
Tromsø because it's within the arctic circle and has a reasonable climate - I love the snow. So much! More than rain! But 24/7 ice like Barrow, Alaska (for example) would be too much. And too miserable because there is nothing worthwhile in Alaska. I mean Barrow. But it still works for Alaska.
But yeah, north of the Arctic Circle sounds like a magical location to live? And in Tromsø the weather isn't miserable, there are a lot of people, its just a regular booty city but it has midnight sun, endless winter nights (<3), and the winters ARE better than in like, mainland USA. By better I mean snowier and icier.

I JUST REALLY WANT TO MOVE TO NORWAY OKAY

Finland or Norway would both be pretty rad, in different ways. Music educators tend to be all about Finland because of their fucking kickass school system, and it being a sort of composer's pilgrimage (Sibelius, bruh), but Norway seems pretty rad too, and their language is easier to get ahold of as an English speaker. Only thing I'd probably dislike is how expensive I'd imagine a lot of fresh produce is, due to even more limited local growing seasons, and farther import distances for non-native variety.

Could always go native and do a diet change! What is a Norwegian diet, anyway?

Alcohol, fish, and reindeer?

It actually doesn't sound that bad
