ah, lexington
the largest town in KY that people who have never left the mountains INSIST counts as a city

they have like

one building thats notable and a state university
lameo

ALSO SPEAKING OF UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY
The last time I was at Target I bought a bunch of stuff because I was redoing my bathroom (towels, soap dispensers, mats, shower curtains, new showerhead)
and the cashier gave me this excited look and asked me how my dorm room was
and i said

"demolished like four years ago."

My dorm at University of Kentucky was demolished a few years ago. r
and fact: people who buy showerheads are clearly experiencing dorm life

I actually don't know all that much about Lexington. I've lived in KY for 15 years now (unfortunately) and have only been to Lexington maybe 8 times. I have a few friends going to school there though and they seem to like it, so hopefully I won't absolutely hate it.

As far as cities go, its the best place in KY outside Louisville, with the added benefit of not being Lousiville.
but it would still be better to move out of the state. my life improved so fucking much when i moved. like, i stopped wanting to kill myself as much and that's not a stupid off-color joke

I'd like to eventually move out of the state but I don't want to be too far away from my mother. Not because I can't handle being away from her but because I don't think she can handle me being so far away. My younger sister moved out and around the same time my older sister began going in and out of jail and it's caused my mom a lot of stress so I know if II moved too far away it would be hard on her. I almost think Lexington is too far but there are bodaciously no jobs near where I live that aren't either truck driving or minimum wage retail jobs. I do plan to leave KY before I'm 30 though (20 now).

bodaciously the entire listing for every single job aggregation site for Johnson County is just "CDL DRIVER" and its either Pepsi or some coal hauling garbage - or mcdonalds.

30 is way old.
apologies to any late 20 year olds who may be on this forum. unless we have some users over the age of 30. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE
You're like
wanting to be an ESTABLISHED ADULT in the states with the 44th worst economy in the entire country
and those are stats from last year, just wait until 2027 when all the good people have left and Kentucky and West Virginia are just the mountain meth cousin of Florida
i mean

more than they already are

Yea for real all the job postings are "CDL CLASS A DRIVER HOME ON WEEKENDS" or something like that. Almost sounds like a forum bot.

30 is an absolute worst case scenario. I plan to leave as soon as I have a really solid nest egg built up so that I'll have enough saved up to live off of for six months or so. 30 is my cutoff for it. If I've not managed to save up that much in ten god daisies years than I might as well just become one with this inbred state and embrace it. If everything works out though I'll hopefully leave within the next few years.

Either go northeast or go west. Don't be one of those people who escapes the mountains to go to like
Tennessee or North Carolina

when you escape GO ALL THE WAY

Also don't claim Kentucky wherever you go unless you end up in the horse or bourbon business

I have the advantage of not being from there and only having lived there, so good luck

I lived in Ohio until I was five so that's where I tell people I'm from when I'm out of town. I don't have an accent so people ask me where I'm from a lot even when I'm here at work.

I've been to tennesee before and hated it. No way am I going to go further south. I don't like the heat much. I'll probably go to vermont or michigan. Somewhere far north whee the living expenses aren't insanely high.

Getting better at painting models. These heavily detailed Death Guard models are really forcing me out of my comfort zone and I think it's paying off.

Kentucky is weird. Where I live there are confederate flags everywhere but I can drive 30 miles to Berea and it's extremely liberal. They host gay pride events there all the time and I very rarely see confederate flags there. Louisville is also fairly liberal from my experience and Lexington's mayor is openly gay so I assume they aren't as bad either. But yea the majority of the state is pretty rough. Lots of nice scenery in the backwoods areas but probably not the best area for LGBT peoples.

Yo, I'm scooping some up soon too. I'm not a fan of the canon colors tho, I'm already planning on painting the Marines as Blood Ravens, but I don't think I can get away painting the Death Guard in anything but ball pit vomit.

If you don't like the green I would suggest looking up duncan's tutorial on The Pallid Hand, it's more of a bone color than anything else, and looks really nice. Other than that I've seen a lot of zombies painted in reds, purples, and yellows, kind of a puss/bruise/blood theme. I think if you get creative with it you can make a fitting scheme with a different base color.

Gotta love those Blood Ravens, though. They deserve to see more action on the tabletop. You should post your stuff somewhere when you're done! I forget if there's still a thread around for them or not..

My brother got me new headphones. They plug into the USB port and have better sound quality than I am accustomed to having. They fit comfortably and don't randomly pull away from my ears like the ones I was borrowing.
