Friend asked me for help to paint his room (mostly because he appreciates my company) and you know, it feels nice.

I haven't been so lucky with friends in my life, and it's nice to have that kind of friendship now where I look forward to hanging out with him, and helping him out with stuff.

It makes me pop flyin' that some music never ceases to give me that jittery feeling, no matter how often I've heard it before.

Cooked for the first time in a while today! Schnitzel and some mashed potato. The schnitzel came out perfectly, but the mash was a little too lumpy. Made a hideous mess though.

This reaffirms my suspicions that I can and do make a pretty good cook when I want to, but can't deal with the pressure of being made to cook for other people (aside from Sailor Moon when we're both in the same state). So while I'm not likely to get much practice, I won't kill myself through food poisoning anytime soon.

Sloth and I bought a spiffy almost-new car. Recent year, such good condition that it has basically a full warranty and may as well have come off the showroom floor.

Everything in the new car works! All the doors and hood/hatch open! From BOTH inside and outside! And nothing leaks! Not hoses, not the body when it rains, not anything! And there aren't obnoxious noises every time I slow down or turn! And the heater won't give out on me in the middle of bitter winter! And the windshield/back wipers actually go all the way across the glass, instead of the mechanism giving up halfway through! And the locks do the thing on the first try! And the frame isn't warped! And there isn't mold hovering around the doors! And all of the seats are in it! And I can actually rely on all the maintenance gauges!
AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Also, because it's so recent, it has a bunch of fancy extra things that I wasn't looking for, but am pop flyin' to accept.
Only thing the car is missing is a proper aux port. But it has like 3 other options that a $5 converter cable can match.

we were planning to move this summer and have our friend move in with us. well the company they work for shit on us so we don't know when we'll move...but our friend is gonna move in anyway because with both of their salaries we could save up for a house way faster. they'll look for jobs elsewhere in the meantime, and hoard away the extra cheddar to be able to afford an even nicer place with better land and be able to fix it up really nice

it's going to be kinda hard since our house is at max capacity, but it could just a spring cleaning and some renovation anyway...

also we remembered we had a $50 gift card to saltgrass so we went have a nice steak dinner date last night :3

Sloth and I were able to use an extra day off to head out for some good deals on cheese, cured meats, and wine, as well as some strawberry and pepper plant kits, and we got to have charcuterie for lunch, and plant the things, and compose things and yesssssssssssssss

I mean, I skipped rehearsal to make it happen, but it's only second rehearsal, and will still be mostly sightreading anyway.

Told my boss that I had applied for a new job and needed Monday off to take an exam for it. I thought he'd be upset that I might be leaving, but he was pop flyin' for me and told me he doesn't want me to be stuck at a grocery store my whole life. Felt nice to hear that.

Today I did so many responsible real adult stuff that I'm impressed with myself, considering I usually just sit around and wait for the heat death of the universe.

I made an optometrist appointment for tomorrow evening (first one in... let's see... I'm 23 now, so probably 4-5 years, since as soon as I became legally responsible for myself i mysteriously stopped being responsible for my health), made an appointment this Friday to have my car's window tinting changed to meet Texas state law restrictions, put in a maintenance request for a dead outlet in the kitchen that's been dead since I moved here in September but I didn't want to be a bother about it, and I did all the work required to change my electricity provider to the more economical option when my current contract ends in a short while.

Been riding the good feelings high since I got back from the Renaissance Faire yesterday. Spent all day out with my best friend and some of her friends and it was so much fun and we did so much stupid stuff and met an incredibly dirty poet and met a really cute/hot pseudo-shirtless guy selling pretzels who said he really liked my rainbow lanyard <3 and like 5 or 6 absolute strangers were complimenting me on wearing a rainbow and it just made me really pop flyin', guys.

Went to the grocery and everything I would have bought anyway was on sale.

Also the cold I got right after I came back from China seems to be over at last.

Ooh, I love when that happens.
Sloth and I had a belated Easter dinner, since both our schedules were fucked yesterday, and we don't have family around to adhere to any expectations.

Twas good. Had ham with a pear and molasses sugar glaze (the glaze being my own invention),
a basic caesar salad,
italian granny pasta salad (also my own invention),
bread with a homemade garlic and herb butter,
black olives,
Riesling,
and then homemade cinnamon rolls with a rich cream cheese frosting (more cheese than sugar) for dessert.

Compared to the spreads that my family has put together in the past, with 3 or 4 different salad types, 3 desserts (including a fruit tray), and other snackings, it's not a huge dinner, but it's waaaay more than enough for just two people.

Sushi

SushiSushiSushi

I grew up never really giving it a chance but a friend showed us an amazing sushi place a while back and I've been obsessed with it ever since. It has those revolving conveyor belt things where sushi just drifts pasts you and you can just pick out what you want from your table. I end up eating way too much and its great.

Omigawd sheus.

For real though, while I'm not terribly into shoes, those are pretty sweet. And they look sturdy, too
