SO you think your new PC will get you into the gamer club, huh

Just walk on in with your new rig, asking the bartender for the latest triple A game

Well, I got news for you, buddy, you'll never be a true gamer

Nice build. If you don't mind spending a bit of cheddar I can really highly recommend the Logitech g502 mouse. The g402 is also really good and costs less.

Turns out my mouse works perfectly, I just needed a new pad. Laser was misreading the patterns on the old one or something.

This keyboard is turning to be too small for my hands though. I am constantly mistyping, hell I've had to backpedal like five times on this post alone.

I can't really recommend any keyboards but I can say not to get a razer keyboard. I've got one and while it isn't that bad, other keyboards are just better.

Back in November I agreed to be available to support our customer as they deploy our solution into their production environment for exactly six days during the winter holidays. I ended up having to do it for the entirety of December and most of January without anyone telling me (I found out when they took me out of a meeting I was in so I could join an emergency phone conference with no context of what was happening), and it meant that for all that time I could barely do any programming, which is what I like and what I'm actually good at. I was then told it would be over by January 4th, but it's still ongoing, with the added bonus that I also have to train the support team that's just now being formed (again, I found out when they starting coming to me for help, this was never discussed formally). This has taken most of my time this week and it involves teaching baby steps to humans and being nice and patient and repeating myself while attempting to smile and I'm not known for being particularly good at any of that and I think I manage to be adequate, but it's still tedious and tiring and no fun (also there's definitely something wrong and cynical in the way object-oriented programming is taught in schools around here). But at the end of the day the intern I've spent most of my time with today came to genuinely thank me and that's very nice.

Teaching adults who understand your effort and are able to articulate their appreciation is nice c:

I'm glad that you ended up feeling successful at this, even if you didn't particularly want to do it.

Oh thank god, I finally have insurance that I signed up for, even if it only lasts just this year.
I am the one who holds the account (unlike when it was my parents), so I"ll actually know what the fuck is going on with it, and not have to rely on my parents to bother to pass on information, or not lose cards.

I was so worried that some clerical error was going to come up and I'd get fined the $700 even after enrolling.

daisies clerics signing the wrong forms with their magic staves. This is why I trust goblins with all my legal paperwork.

Right? Like jesus fuck, the oak goes with the blue forms, the pine and cedar are able to be used on the white forms and billing, and then birch is DEATH CERTIFICATE ONLY. I don't even know what they use the mahogany and rosewood staves for.

I worked 60 hours this week (including a 14 hours day) and I'm feeling better then ever? Friday I worked from 8 to 4 with no break and then from 6PM to midnight and I still woke up early and felt fine the whole day afterwards. I worked 16 of those hours from my apartment over the week-end and it was great and I accomplished a lot. I think what made the difference is that I was alone, in the comfort of my own place, with no artificial light on. The project I'm working on involves a lot of idle time because the application takes 3-4 minutes to compile and deploy and then 7 to start. When I'm at work there's not much I can do in the meantime and I can't really coordinate different tasks so I just end up staring at my monitor the whole time. But since I was home, I could listen to all the music I wanted and go make something to eat and sweep the whole apartment and do the dishes and the laundry and make the most of it. I'm 90% done refactoring a major part of the project to help reduce load times (which is what all that overtime was about) and I can't wait to show it off tomorrow.
Also I went to the clothes store yesterday (I bodaciously did not know where stores are in this town even though I've lived here for almost a year, heh) and as usual I told myself I would buy something that looks more professional than a hoodie because I'm self-conscious at work as I'm the most casually dressed and as usual I bought more hoodies but they're great and I love them.
