I wonder how this person would answer if I asked him about white people from countries that didn't practice slavery or systematic discrimination, such as mine. Our history with black people is more or less exclusively positive since we have allowed them in as immigrants. Do these people believe these's some sort of a common responsibility and guilt among white people towards black people even if you have zero connections to the people and countries that committed those crimes in the past?
