I got the second interview for that job with the state! This is getting pretty exciting! I really need it too because my current job doesn't make enough to pay the rent for the place we're moving to.

my little broken leg foster kitty paninya is showing her personality now and she's really taken a liking to people ;o; she heads to the vets again tomorrow for some testing and hopefully she can go in the kitten room when she gets home and get used to being in foot traffic

The Quebec equivalent to the GPA (I think) for the fall semester is finally out (it was supposed to come out on February 17th, wtf) and I got a new personal record in the class in which I got 46/40 on the final. Oh yeah.

So Grandpa gave me an idea on how to hook up the Xbox to the surround sound system. Luckily I found a set of AV cords that can piggyback on the headset (on the xbox) to the surround sound system.
I'm now stoked to play skyrim.

I passed my driving test today with a perfect score. Cleaned the house a bit today too, so everything feels fresh man.

Productive! Those days are so nice.

And as for what makes me pop flyin' today I was remembering how appreciative and surprised I was with my grandpa's quick acceptance and support when I came out as trans. He used the right name and pronouns right away. It helps that my grandpa is liberal and approachable.

I might be getting a chance to take on a graphic design job soon for a local non-profit organization! Chances are I won't be getting paid, but for someone with little practical experience and a need to get a folio started for future jobs this is a godsend.

What kind of work will you be doing with them in graphic design? Like a logo or graphics for a website?

Well it's completely informal atm with nothing decided since the group is run by a committee (and the offer only came from a single member who I happen to be related to), but from what I gather it'll basically be providing a new logo. I'll fight for the chance to choose a new font for them since I wasn't a fan of the one they were using at their previous location, though.

Never. Ever. Work for free. It will essentially tell people that you think your quality of work is worthless and they will in the future base all other artist's work on yours. Work for minimum wage at the very least. It doesn't matter if this is for a not-for-profit organization. Get paid.

At any rate it looks like a good way to gain some experience in the field of your choice so that's great!

Thanks for the advice. Thankfully as far as I know my relative hadn't brought it up with the group yet, so the sudden existence of a price tag won't disappoint the rest of the committee. And if I lose the job because it's not free? Eh, I can deal with it. Better than making a name for myself as a free sample machine.

I am so glad you're taking my advice on this. More artists need to be paid what they actually deserve. I know far too many people who struggle to make ends meet because clients don't see art as a service worth paying for.

this is never worth not getting paid

if you are not getting paid it's not worth your time, especially if you're an artist.
