My friend got a ton of Magic cards for his birthday so that we could learn to play together. I've been really enjoying it, made a Blue/White deck that seems to be pretty solid so far.

Went to a sealed Avacyn Restored pre-release (my first sealed event AND pre-release). There were 57 players, and... I ended up winning the event!

I got an Avacyn Restored box as my prize, on top of being able to keep the cards I opened to begin with. Best day ever!

I'm building a Blue/White magic deck, splashing a little black, based around Misthollow Griffin and self-graveyard-hate. Things like Skaab Ruinator and Surgical Extraction and Moorland Haunt. It's a daft idea but I think if I modify it enough it could end up being quite fun.

That feel when you make a generally meh archtype run really well that it catches people off guard over how smooth it can play.

So I've been getting back into MtG via Cockatrice and I need more people to duel with. At the moment I only run Vintage because those are the only cards I know, but I would love to know how to build a competent Standard or whatever deck.

Got a new Yu-Gi-Oh starter deck and split it with my brother.

Now I have Utopia and The String Djiin in my extra deck and my brother got the other 3 Djiins.
I also put Sangan in.

Do you mean a Type 2 Tournament legal deck? Because that's just kind of the same way you build a deck with old cards. But with new ones. If you're just talking Legacy with the new mechanics thrown in, then you just kind of read the cards to see which mechanics go well together.

Got an Avacyn Restored booster pack the other day, got a few good cards. Elgaud shieldmate is absolutely perfect to make my Darksteel Myr and Gorgon Flail combo become a truly untouchable indestructable creature with deathtouch.

And then I have primal surge, which could easily be an instant win, if I can manage to get that much mana.

Also, kessig malcontents, but I don't have that many human cards.

I don't even know. I just want a deck that isn't all ancient cards.
However, I don't know enough about recent cards to make a deck that works. I usually only play casual games so it doesn't have to be really hardcore, but I'd like it to be at least viable.

Ablu2, what colors are you running in your deck?

I have a mono deck for each color and a fail golden deck made with leftover cards. I was just kind of mentioning the cards I got from the booster pack.

I'm planning on eventually making decks that aren't just mono, I'll probably do that when I get more cards for my birthday, which is sadly in August, the end of summer.

Ah, well I would suggest Dawn's Reflection for the mana issue, but I'm sure there are other cards that do that.

I don't order cards online, seems kind of superfluous when I can beat everyone I play with by a long shot anyway.
