I think the last time I wore make-up was when I was about 5. You're lucky if you even see me with my hair combed.

can i be the saviour of this thread

um idk ok you should always try be careful with the make up you're wearing in regards to your clothing (note: that does not mean wear a blue dress and matching blue eyeliner, you typically want to avoid that). It means pretty much the opposite e.g. if you're wearing a green top you don't want green eye liner.

also be gentle on the blusher, you don't want to look like a clown. Seeing how different shades and colours work with your eye colour and hair colour can be good too (but once again be careful.) Moisturise to keep your skin dry, if you apply make up or w/e it goes cakey and horrible, do it lightly and gently in a room with good lighting. If you want a more natural look without spending ages just use a light mascara and lip gloss i suppose

this is just knowledge from living in a house with girls in and common sense really sorry if you know all of this already

It doesn't surprise me that Tales has the most make-up knowledge.

I wanna find some really lightweight foundation or whatever, just some stuff to smooth out my complexion I guess. Eye makeup is annoying but I might get back into it for special occasions or something.

Also today I bought a dress, +1 girly point for me. I'm trying to get some into some more stylish stuff, right now sweaters, cardigans and skirts are at the top of my "to buy" list.

Show us pictures when you're done.
A friend of mine tries clothes in the booth and takes pics in there before buying so she can get an opinion and also see herself in a way that is not in the beautiful skinny mirror.

Oh also, in regards to foundation. Try the samples or get the assistant to help you find one that suits you. You'll end up with something expensive but often you're getting what you pay for.

A good thing to know after shaving senstive places is to put a layer of polysporin on it, and then once thats soaked in, put a layer of body lotion.

It keeps it from getting itchy and irritated.

Actually, what about a tinted moisturiser?
Good for light day time coverage and saves you having a separate foundation and day cream.

I'll look into that, thanks! I have a mosturizing lotion that I put on regularly (when I remember) so that sounds easy enough to find and use.

Does anyone here know how to use Dior's Hydra Life stuff?
I got a free starter kit months ago and never touched it since it doesn't come with instructions. It might not even be an official starter set. The makeup lady was chastising me for having such dry skin and gave me a box with these in it as a free sample
There's three little tubes, and another tube that's from...One Essentials? Capture Totale? There's... 'Pro-Youth Sorbet Eye Creme', 'Pro-Youth Sorbet Creme', 'Radiance Awakening Energizing Moisturizer', and the OE/CT is 'Skin Boosting Super Serum', if that helps any
I can't tell if I should wash my face with them, or just rub them on like lotion, or what. And I'd rather not waste them...

Okay, you got an eye cream, a moisturiser and a serum.

From what I understand you pat the eye cream around the eye pretty much following the eye socket. Don't rub it all over the eye (heard that for some people it makes their eyes puffy)
Moisturiser you just rub all over the face.
The serum is trickier. I've heard some women use it as a light moisturiser before bed. But then I found some specific instructions on your particular brand:

Quote:
I read on a make up guidance forum that you should always apply serum immediately after toner, while your face is still damp from the toner, which I have been doing - then I wait for about 10 minutes before applying my moisturiser, which I finds just glides over the top beautifully.

So there you have it.

ugh what's a good way to get my hair curly without using a diffuser or a curling iron

is just spraying hairspray and mousse in it good enough?

Well, you'll need to hold it into shape while the hairspray sets. and that seems like a pain in the booty. Alternatively, you could sleep with rollers in, and then hairspray it in the morning while the curls are just let out. The downside to this, though, is that the nature of the curls can be somewhat unpredictable.

And what is a diffuser.

Those of you with bangs: how often do you need to trim them?
I feel like mine are growing way too fast.

I can get away with waiting a month, but I personally like having my bangs a really specific length, so I try to trim them every two weeks or so. I recently got bigger glasses though, so now it's even more specific than before so it probably won't be two weeks anymore?
I think it just seems like they grow fast because you're cutting them more. It seems super backwards, but I think I heard something when I was younger about hair not growing if it hasn't been trimmed. Iunno if it's because of split ends, or what.
