I know that the hatter posted this one sink before me, but I thought that the way that it functioned was too cool.

While awesome, I don't know if this would be comfy or would hurt like hell.

Build your own furniture - the nostalgic way!

The final, curved shelves seem kind of useless beyond flimsy books.

Good thing I can store my books in my chair instead!

The power of cardboard

Verner Panton one-piece injection moulded chair. Pretty amazing considering it's only a two-part injection mould.

Desk made from a recycled aeroplane wing/tail.

Chair made from discarded CDs.

My best friend knew somebody who made a working controller like that out of cardboard. I forget what he did to make the buttons work; I think it was like a DDR pad below the cardboard kind of set up.

If I was anything other than an engineer, I'd think these are awesome!

But I am an engineer.
So looking at them simply gives me a headache.

You should be able to appreciate this chair from an engineering standpoint Plasma. The shape affords strength, ergonomics, aesthetic appeal and stackability. The thickness of the plastic varies in different areas to deal with weight and stress distribution.

It was designed by Verner Panton (his original design was fibreglass).

I do however, think that most of the furniture displayed in this thread is unecessarily flamboyant.

I do believe that form should be dictated by function, except in the instance of recycled/improvised furniture, which always beat everything else hands down.

I can understand. A lot of them are form over function, but hey, eye candy is still nice, right?

I mean, at least this way you get the joy of staring at their beauty without the frustration of owning them.

All I can think about when looking at half of these sinks is, "They're screwed when they go to dump a bucket of water in one of these."

Somehow I suspect that catering to the needs of 'I-need-to-dump-this-bucket-right-the-fuck-now guy' is not high up on their list.
