Guess it's the people I play with. We're all arrogant, so we all want to outsmart everyone else, and that kinda shit just sends up a red flag.

It's really quite fun. Even though I'm usually lynched purely on the fact that I'm quiet, which is because I prefer to sit back and observe everyone else than make accusations. People give away a lot when they're throwing accusations around and trying to defend themselves.

Lying can work against you though. Say you're a wolf and you claim you're the hunter or seer, in hopes of putting suspicion elsewhere. That CAN work, but only if someone else does NOT come forward to contest your claim by saying THEY are the hunter/seer. Because generally, those roles only want to reveal their identity if they absolutely must, and if someone else claims that role, then it's almost certain that they're a wolf, and it's in everyone's best interests (other than the wolves) of the real hunter/seer reveals their identity, (which is almost certain to end with the wolves killing them that night) and be done with one wolf than to risk lynching a villager or worse.

Of course, I've seen very tricky players who've used that situation to their advantage. Real seer claims for whatever reason, then a wolf counter-claimed. Seer was lynched, wolves got to maul someone that night. The wolf was, naturally, lynched the next day, but it was a worthwhile sacrifice for his team.
