Yeah, that's me in a nutshell, I never got far in any project because I ooverestimate myself half the time and I end up cancelling it, I'm still stick inbetween a rock and a hard place with FrameShift and The Victims. I really would love to learn more of UE4 but god dang does blender require rocket science to work with.

Yeah, you just need to tackle it one thing at a time if you're working alone. Juggling either knives or chainsaws on their own is doable, but if you try to toss both in the air at once, you're probably going to get cut.

3D modeling is a difficult thing to figure out and requires a big time investment. It gets easier as you figure out the different tools, though. Blender becomes amazingly efficient once you finally figure out all of the little different hotkeys that make things work.

I'm still trying to figure them out.

to be fair though, blender is a train wreck. i despise that program with every ounce of my being.

unfortunately it's the only free one....modo is inexpensive (like $300 i think?) in relation to say, max or maya, but for a high school or college kid that's pretty farfetched.

i still dream of doing dev work but i have the issue of REALLY LOVING modeling and animation, but REALLY HATING everything else about the art side of development. fortunately our dev team is art-heavy so i get to play with the material editor and do grunt work nobody else wants to do. also had started learning C++ as well but since starting my job that kinda dropped off because i dont' want to do work after i get home from work, ya feel? and apparently i am too good at my job and they give me so many hours, so on my days off i have to do housekeeping stuff and errands

Dunno what version of Blender you tried, but they made it a lot more accessible to people unfamiliar with it ever since the 2.5 update.

I'm apparently the sole character modeler for this game project I mentioned joining in my first post in this topic. They seem pop flyin' with the work I've been doing on putting together a basic placeholder character that's easy to animate.

I'm gonna be one of the best comediac character actor the west coast has ever seen. I also wanna continue to bring Improv comedy to television like Whose Line is doing.

Side goals: voice act/sing in a disney animated feature

i've used the new update. still unusable imo. i don't feel like i need to sit down and spend 5 hours to orient myself in a program i should be able to open up and use with a general knowledge of modeling programs. i have similar complains about zbrush and how god daisies impossible it is to learn.

Ah well. Everyone needs something different.

I personally find Blender quite easy to use, for the most part. Tried it once before the 2.5 update and dropped it instantly because the interface was a nightmare. One thing I notice when I compare it to other software (via Youtube) is how the animation system seems a bit less straightforward.

In other news, I am pretty much the lead character modeler for that project I joined. Yaaaay.

I'm in college for information technology, but if I'm good enough at the programming side of that I'll see if I can go into software development. I'll have to get certs and do projects, but it would be worth it. Other than being successful, I don't have any solid plans.

I will draw & draw & draw

I think it'll take some time and first hand experience to learn where and what I should draw

In animation as an animator or storyboarder would be great

I'd like to produce some comics too

making games is also something I've always thought about
