You snuff out the flames as best you can and shove the creature from your person. From here, you can see that this creature has a wolf build, is made of some sort of wood, and is indeed on fire. The creature scrambles to get to it's feet (paws?), leaving you time to attack.

You blindly swing at the wolf, yet only one out of your flurry strikes and it strikes hard. The sound of wood cracking from your brass-laden hoof is heard in through the hallway, attracting attention of several boners in their rooms.

The wolf shakes it's head, chucks of wood flying from it, before it looks at you, growling before leaping to bite.

I once seen a horse give a belly rub to a critter. Wuddn't pretty.

You raise a hoof to strike the wolf's underbelly, but the wolf bites down on your foreleg, giving you another burn.

Before either of you could make another move, a gunshot rings through the hallway and the wolf is flung from your body and onto the floor, disintegrating into a pile of ash. A pegasus trots over to you, offering a hoof. "Sorry about that. Darn things are always getting in through holes in the walls and stuff." She says, helping you back to your hooves. "You've got a good punch there. Say, you're Crescendo's friend, aren't you?" She asked. "He's waiting for you, you know. Right down there." She pointed over the railing to a group of boners around a table, each one more fashionable than the last.

Wait, I thought the fires were out, but the wolf is still on fire?

The fires rekindled by the wolf's bite have died away. When you're on fire, you make an AGI check to put them out and avoid burn damage. Capiche?

The mare leads you down the stairs. You ask what you just punched in the face and why it was on fire. "That? That was a Timber Wolf. They aren't usually that small, so it must've been a pup. As for why it's on fire..." The mare shrugs. "The same reason I was told. Magic. Well, Magic and radiation."

You ask your questions to the mare. She seems to perk up on the opportunity to explain things about your current location. "Why, Diamond Point is only the hottest place to be this side of Canterlot." She says with a smile. "Used to be a prison, way back in the days before the war. We used to only live in the Stable, on the other side of the building." She points to the far left wing of the prison, then the the yellow 85 on her blue jumpsuit. "Stable 85: Bringing back the sounds from Pre-War Equestria since, well, forever!" She says with pride. "Then Mister Crescendo showed up at our door, we brought him in and he told us everything about the mainland. All the other boners, the creatures mutated by the Zebra magic, all the problems going on." The mare gives a smile. "But I'm sure you know most of those already, being from the mainland yourself."

"Mister Crescendo noticed how good we are with music and suggested we share our talents with the rest of the world, but we weren't about to leave the Stable behind, so we built a boat & Mister Crescendo went back to the mainland to bring back more boners, and by gum, that's what he did. A whole plethora of them too. boners, Griffons, Buffalos, even Zebras! I didn't think anypony would be able to last outside of a Stable, guess I was wrong. When the first show we put on was a hit, Mister Crescendo said we should start charging but... For us, your talents have been free for everypony to enjoy. We never charged a single bit.. Or cap, recently, for anypony to see our shows. Our Overmare was conflicted on what to do, but her assistant, Pianissimo; we all call him, struck a deal. Crescendo could run his own shows with talent he finds and wants and charge what he wants, and we from the Stable can do the same. They both agreed and everything's been peachy ever since."

She has to think on the location. "I've only been to the mainland once or twice. Crescendo always says it's close to Zebra lands, and that nopony wants to go into Zebra lands without good reason. He also said that it was a straight walk to New Pegasus from the shore. Straight, but long."

The mare points back down to the ground floor she's leading you to. "It's more like two towns sharing the same island. We at the Stable keep the hotel tidy and we like to keep our shows friendly to any audience. Crescendo on the other hand... He has a tendency to act a bit shady, and it rubs off on the way he runs his half of Diamond Point. Though, if you like a gamble and a drink, it's the place to be."

As you and the mare get closer to the ground floor, the sounds of a slow piano ballad fill your ears, accompanied by a saxophone and floor bass. Your new acquaintance stops at the bottom of the stairs and points through the crowd of other boners, bright lights, and bustling chatter. "Mister Crescendo is over chewing the fat at the table on the raised platform in the corner with some of his 'more important' clientele." She turns away, towards a large set of elegant double doors. "I'd join you, but I was banned from the gambling parts of Diamond Point as soon as my parents let me come here. Mister Crescendo won't let me anywhere near his tables." She gives a nod towards the doors. "You should come by to see the other side of the place sometime, it's much quieter than it is in here." She says, heading for the doors and leaving you to fend for yourself.

You trot up to and plop yourself down at the first Blackjack table you find, but the croupier shoos you way, saying you need to gamble with casino chips, and that they can't let anypony set down at the table and dump all of their caps and bits on the table to play.

Well shit.

You take one look at the bathroom and assume that somepony before you thought that was a good idea, because the door is guarded by a stallion with two very automatic looking rifles hanging on either side of his saddles.
