I think it's fine to have both GGG and threads about anything people want to make a thread about.

I think you guys are misinterpreting what I meant by "general threads".

It's moreso that you go to the first page of General Shenanigans and, "Oh, here is a thread to post in if you're mad, here is one for if you're sad, here is one for if you're pop flyin'. Got a picture you want to share? Well we have five different picture threads for you to sort your images into, plus three to six more topics to sort any of your personal stories, pictures, and hobbies into."

Don't get me wrong, some of these topics are great and necessary because they cut down on off-topic clutter in other threads. I mostly feel like no one makes new threads these days because people will post in them saying, "Uh dude we totally have a thread for this already pls go there." Sometimes the redirection is valid, other times it's unnecessary. It's not BAD to make a topic about something you really like outside the thread it's "supposed" to go into. I particularly liked how someone made an Unsounded thread outside the Other Webcomics thread, for example. I enjoyed when people made threads about gigantic adventures they went on with picture posts (like Terraem's from back in the day).

I'm almost tempted to ask the others how they'd feel about locking the Current Events thread so we can just have people posting news threads again. Topics don't need to be 100 pages long to be good.

That's kind of the problem. Nobody makes threads, and none of the current threads are really about anything, they're all just general, catch all threads

I don't agree with locking the current event thread. The times people made topics about news (like Internet censorship) the posts were largely "nothing's going to happen" and general circle jerk about how terrible these things are. Plus current events barely had any activity to begin with, as everyone seems to assume that everyone has heard the news or don't care (like the Beyonce lip syncing thing).

I think it will just discourage people from talking about it, or make them put it in unimportant/taboo/rustled off where it doesn't really belong.

I think having a subforum for RP threads might be a good idea, but it might be a little dull considering the frequency of them appearing. Having a subforum just for that may cause incentive to make more, though.

For some reason I thought we DID but apparently I am wrong. Techincally the RP threads can just go in media swamp.

It's not like there's a thread limit for a forum. It'd be easier to keep track of conversations and topics if they had their own thread. It's quite shite having 4 different conversations going on at once in a thread, because 8 different people want to talk about something that is loosely defined as being under the control of that thread.

Not everyone is around all the time to punctually finish a conversation though. That's going to happen no matter what thread it is.

Hell, the Pokemon thread does that all the time.

While that's true enough, I think that's more in-part to it being such a huge thread.

I agree with Kamak, I think closing Current Events will make people post less about less important news. Whenever something big was going on people tended to make a new thread for it anyway.

As for general topics, I think they're fine as they are, but people should feel free to make new threads if they have something specific they really want to talk about.

The zap to the extreme thread needs to be moved. (Or deleted)
