I would think that socks and lacing them properly at the top would prevent that, but is it possible you have a skin sensitivity to make you more prone to that, Shazza?

well they don't actually CHAFE but i don't wear socks that aren't ankle socks and i'm still stuck in 2005 so i lace my shoes once then force my feet into them until they loosen up which combines to high tops not really being that comfortable

if nothing else though i'm not a fan of the aesthetic

I've just worn low top shoes my whole life and didn't see any reason to change that now
