I have decided
to make an effort
and start drawing my morning bed hair
every day.

Something I have been wanting to do for a while.

I hate the camera quality I am stuck with.

Figuring out this hair thing, day by day.

I am particularly proud of how this one turned out.

Are those done using charcoals? I think they're very nice and I like how detailed and clean they are.

Day Two reminded me of Björk's Debut album cover.

Nope, it is all done entirely in mechanical pencil in a sketchbook. I never handled charcoal outside the times my brother had me help with a grill.

My tablet camera is so low res-that everything seems to kind'a blend together. It has been an annoying process of trial and error in getting the edges to be properly distinguished from the white spaces using the built in image filters on my device. I finally have my scanner, but the cheap computer I have was gonna start using decided to die after I recovered my stuff from Florida.

Also, I never saw anything from Björk, before. Weird.
I don't think I've ever actually seen/heard anything from her/them/isitagroupnameorisitapersonname.

It's the artist's first name.

Yeah I was wondering if it was just a filtering thing. The contrast seemed too good for graphite.

here's a WIP of something that a person actually commissioned me to do
The color of the paper is weird because I took this pic with my phone

I'm working on adding color to it now

If I were able to use a scanner, I'd never have to use filters to fix it up. Perfect white sketching paper has no reason to display as brown/blue/gray/tie-dye when snapped from my tablet camera.

Siiiiigh.

Come to think of it, I probably ought to find those art pencils I picked up a few months ago and experiment with shading using them...

Cockfighting Society? It's a redo of a drawing I've redone once.

Just a picture I drew the other day of a character I've been working on. Sorry about the low quality of the picture; I don't have a scanner, so I just use a camera.

I think her face turned out okay, but I'm not terribly pop flyin' with her hair and lighting (as always) is giving me trouble. Advice and input would be greatly appreciated!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a white pencil or something to sharpen/emphasize the lighting in certain places. It might help bring out the details in the hair as well.

I also bought a tracing sketch pad because I'm absolute garbage at outlining without messing up and a 1mm Sakura Pigma pen for outlining. Everything looks gorgeous.

All I need now is a whole set of Sakura Pigmas so I don't have to vomit rainbows on them since I have very limited colors.

I'll try that as soon as I can get my hands on a good white pencil; thank you! Is there any particular type of material you'd recommend? Any specific kind of white pencil that works well with graphite?
