Stranger, the sheer number of LINES you have to draw for each one of your comics is making my wrists hurt just looking at them.

ALso they're pretty amusing, so don't stop posting them.

I don't count myself a proper artist, it's not my goal and I only really draw for fun sometimes.
A while ago I was on a Touhou forum who had a challenge, "Draw something in MS Paint."
And I did. My goal was making a full-body rendition of Yuuka's Portrait Sprite from Touhou 4.

I used this as reference..

Oh god, the stars everywhere are making me cringe. x3
It's part of her PC-98 character but still.

Amber's feet seem... insect-like. Is that a reference to the fact Amber gems typically have prehistoric insects frozen inside them?

Yep. Parts of her manifested body are gooey, namely the bottoms of her feet, and her fingers, which allows her to scale walls. She has a habit of hanging out on vertical surfaces, or chilling out upside down.

Peridot opened up a lot of possibilities for gems who choose to have traits that don't necessarily imitate organic creatures, and we know from the corrupted gems that gems don't have to be realistically humanoid, either. The show's cartoony style gave me some liberty to embellish certain traits. She has a very rounded, smooth body with exaggerated features. I wanted her design to communicate the idea that she's very much comfortable with her identity as (an) Amber gem, and makes the most of whatever unique properties she might have, despite being very weak compared to other Gems. Her body is colorful and partially translucent in places, with gooey, sticky features she uses to make up for her lack of physical power.
