I'M A ZOMBIE

And excuse you, he finds the term "booger" to be highly derogatory. :[

Speaking of zombies, I forgot that I drew something that wasn't a Neopet for once the other day.

I paid way more for that massed flies Stainless Pot than I probably should have but I REGRET NOTHING

I also did that thing where you record your drawing process, speed it up and set it to music for this because why not.

A Skype friend changed his avatar to a raltz. It made me start thinking and I decided to draw with an inspiration from the general shape of the pocket monster.

Because I can't resize images on a phone and sweet jumping flapjacks what is wrong with this camera quality.
Haven't drawn anything in months. I think it turned out well.

So I realised my trial version of Paint Tool SAI ran out the other day. Can I get some recommendations on which drawing programs to use since I haven't scoped out the digital art scene much and I don't know if I like SAI that much?

I personally use the GIMP as my software of choice. I have used it for all of my image editing needs. Mostly comic edits, though. It is often compared to Photoshop, mad it even has a Photocopy GUI to choose.

I hear good things about Paint.net, though I only ever touched it once.

Use Photoshop if you decide you have a lot of extra cash lying around and want to use the software that the vast majority of tutorials automatically assume you will be using.

Considering that one day in the future I aim to have a career in Graphic Design and around 99.99% of courses (as well as my current Year 12 class) deal with photoshop it appears that there will be few other options, but I'm not exactly rich at the moment and I really don't like the whole 'Creative Cloud' movement continually sapping cheddar (the DISCOUNT price - apparently 70% off for students - is fifteen bucks a MONTH) so I feel like I'm gonna put off that option at least until I have a semi-stable income source.

Sooo I guess I'll try Paint.net, since I've tried GIMP before and it didn't really gel with me.

Krita is a free art program I know a couple people here use.

Apart from SAI, I use Clip Studio Paint (also known as Manga Studio). It has all the tools to create comics, but also offers the same amount of tools for drawing. To me, it feels like a bit more advanced SAI, but still easy to pick up - their own website even comes with tons of tutorials on how to operate the program.
They often have sales where they go as far as 75% off, I went ahead and grabbed me the Pro version last year, I'm pretty pop flyin' with it since.

Apart from that, there's Corel Painter. THAT is a professional art program, because it actually is done for arting, even though Photoshop allows that too, but as the name suggests, it's not the first reason it's there for. However, Corel Painter is a bit cost heavy, and has a very steep learning curve. But if you get a grip on it, you'll have near endless ways of creating artwork.
Unfortunately it's not as supported by a wider audience, such as photoshop or SAI, so you're by yourself to create new tools.

They are doing interviews with professional artists and hobbyists that use Krita and one of the things that's always gets praise is its brush engine. It's also improving fast and has big plans. They've just started a second Kickstarter to speed up development, by the way.
