Homosexual marriages is basically the biggest blaspheme on Christianity/Catholicism that you could come up with, and people are outraged by the fact that they can't do it. It's just plain odd.

I don't understand that either. You'd think in our modern day in age it wouldn't matter so much to people, but it does for some reason. I'm pretty sure God doesn't care anymore- it's not like gays are being struck by lightning every couple of seconds. :?

Oh hey politics and religion and etc.

pop flyin' to join in.

Basically, I'm what you would call a faggot and I have my own little views on what is what. Growing up in my house, my parents never exactly told us what to believe in. We didn't attend church nor did we practice like...evolutionology. When I was a YOUNG BOY OF 13 I was basically atheist because that's just what I thought.

But then I moved to Virginia and started getting to know all the Christians, both good and bad. I sort of thought that all this condensed faith was a good thing, so I decided to pick up a bible and read a few things. I've always thought that the bible was given to us to interpret, and therefore should not be considered God's divine word...After all, it was written by men, and if the stories teach us anything, men sin. And lie.

So then I'm like "oh dammit I'm gay this sucks," got over it, still kept my spirituality, and everything is okay. I sort of believe my own little thing, and it goes sort of like this:

It's sort of weird how God's message is to love everyone unconditionally, but then condemns homosexuality and shellfish. I've always thought it was a sort of test...Even though God says to hate gays, if you're able to defy God's word for the sake of acceptance and love, you basically just won. Sort of reverse divine doctrine psychology.

As for gay marriage I don't really give a shit. I've never exactly been in a real relationship so it's all "meh." But the whole calling it a different thing is totes "separate but equal is inherently unequal." But a civil union is okay with me I guess?

Remember that some corrupt Pharisees, which were basically Judge Jewdies (c wut I did ther?) would manipulate the Jewish law (which was centred around religion) to their own desires. And since Christianity came from Judaism, perhaps this all just started from one (quite bodaciously) butt hurt Pharisee.

MARRIAGE ITSELF SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.... I have no real reasoning....but it makes me laugh to think like that.

That's a lovely generalization you got right there.

It's kinda disheartening to find most of the liberal/democrats I know preach tolerance but refuse to accept any viewpoint but their own.

And Crawfish, srsly?

Right, yes, its entirely because they refuse to tolerate those people. And absolutely nothing to do with that they may or may not disagree with those people's points.

Because being tolerant means you should tolerate intolerance and hatred.

srsly

The best thing the Republican Party could ever do politically, is make a solid determination to never again pander to the radical christians.

If they could do that, by actually adhering to conservative politics, instead of trying to mix it with fundamentalist christianity, I have little doubt in my mind that they would quickly dominate elections, and our nation would be better off for it.

I'm talking about the people who buy 'republicans suck' t-shirts and flip the fuck out about republican/conservative viewpoints.

Shockingly enough, not all republicans are intolerant and hateful.

Someone alert news.

I never said they were.

Also read my last post's edit.

TL;DR version: I think Republicans would be a superior party to the Democrats, if they would only stop pandering to radical fundamentalist protestantism.

Oh, my bad, I missed the edit. I misread it as you were saying republicans were like that. Sorry about that.
