I mean, devil's advocate here, maybe she's feeling awkward or just not ready for a date yet. You won't know until she responds, though.

And second off, I know with my particular example, the person in question is my exact age...as in...the exact same birthday. It's not that ridiculous for me to ask something of her that I got over when I was in high school. The only time I would ever ignore someone intentionally is if I got the feeling they were uninterested, which usually comes in the form of them cutting all ties from me. If I know someone's interested, I'll be all over it. If after that they suddenly cut ties, I'm more than a little peeved.
Then there's when I'm legitimately not interested, which shouldn't even be an issue. The problem is when people ignore other people despite liking them, which is something I find stupid as hell.
EDIT: My cursing load is overcharged. Need to go blow it off with some SCIENCE!
