All college kids? Does this guy have mental problems or something?

Exeres, go count the votes for your state.

They can't seem to determine which pile is bigger.

And what the hell kinda place do people think Australia is? Texas Jr.?

Texas is actually slowly become a more of a blue state. It's going to be long before we are a battleground state BUT it still shows a lot of Texas did vote blue. In all of the major counties (where the big cities are) Obama came out on top. Plus you can also see on the map I'm about to post that Minority vote (or in thuis case the Hispanic vote) really shows.

As you can see Austin, Houston, Dallas are blue swimming around in seas of red.

It's not the voters' fault, at least. Apparently the machines in the metropolitan areas (Miami, Orlando, etc.) had a tendency to get ballots stuck in them, which led to long lines stretching across several blocks. Even after the polls officially closed, people who were in line had to be counted, so they just stood there. Waiting.

Granted, if more people had filled out absentee ballots beforehand, this wouldn't have been so much of a problem, but the machines were still broken and people down in the cities are rustled.

Florida also had the problem of having early voting days cut in half.

Meaning more people were forced to vote on Tuesday.

IIRC, early voting tends to bring out the democratic votes, and apparently Florida's republican governor cut the days in order to make it more likely that Romney could win the state.

Instead, it made for 6-8 hours lines AFTER polls closed, which meant the poor people in those districts had to stay and make sure all of the people in Florida got to vote.

And since apparently Florida is still using physical ballots instead of electronic ones...

Yeah, Florida is a pretty terrible state, election-wise.

I don't know why they haven't gone full electronic after the punch card issues of 2000.

The second half of your first sentence makes me think that it's some paranoia over the electronic ballot "stealing votes".

Seriously, you're not supposed to color the state until everyone's voted anyway. What difference will it make what order it comes in? All it'd do by making democrats vote last is make Romney look like he's ahead AT FIRST, and then drastically lean towards Obama. This is the same issue with daylight savings time...

The point is that people vote early to NOT stay in line, and some have more of an opportunity to vote the week beforehand, which means some votes can be lost just by people not being available to vote. Furthermore, election night is a clusterfuck anyways without the added pressure of more people waiting in lines because they didn't get to vote beforehand.

Also, there were many people who showed up to early vote only to find out that voting was cut on that day. Being creatures of habit, many people vote on the same day each election.

The main point of the early voting thing is that cutting it did nothing but make things even more of a mad dash in a state that's notorious for not only being "close", but also known for having voting scandals and taking, surprise, 2-3 days to get results, which can drag out the election anxiety if it's the deciding state.

Also, early votes aren't tabulated any sooner than the votes on election day. The only difference is you don't have to stand in a long booty line on Tuesday with the last minute voters, and the people working the polling places can get out of there before 5 in the morning.
