I've been hearing that artificial sweeteners and diet drinks are actually more hazardous to one's health than regular sugar. Something about how the body doesn't know what to do with the chemicals they use to sweeten things.

In other news, I feel bad about myself because my brother bought me a bag full of chocolate-smothered potato chips (I had no idea such a thing existed) and I ate it. I've been trying to cut down on unnecessary junk foods but MY FAMILY MAKES THAT SO DARN DIFFICULT.

There are lots of different sweeteners so I don't think that's always the case. But as I said, it's better to train yourself not to over indulge in sweets, regardless of how they're sweetened.

The problem I've found with not drinking soda or eating junk food is that everything else fucking SUCKS. Vegetables and fruit are boring as hell, and dont even get me started on milk and juice.

Fruit is boring? Uuhh, just what have you tried? Because there's a ton of delicious stuff you can make with just fruits and veggies.

You name it. The taste can be okay, but I dont like the texture and consistency of fruit.

If you say so. As for me, I could kill for some good guacamole or a juicy mango right now.

Well, I'm not saying ditch sweets all together. But it's better to not think of them as something you can have regularly. Having the occasional soda isn't a big deal. But it's better to make water one's regular drink.

Same goes for all treat food.

If you want to become the strongest, you have to do 100 sit ups, 100 push ups, 100 squats and run 10 km every day.

The flip side is that you'll turn bald.

For the record: there has been no scientific evidence that normal doses of artificial sweeteners have any detrimental effect. Better yet, the allowed quantities in food (in Europe at least) are so low that you'll have to drink, for example, 23 liters of diet soda every day before any sort of negative effect might occur.

Don't let the tabloids fool you with their fear mongering.

I'm thinking about taking up boxing next year while I'm at college. Thing is, I'm not sure if I should work on muscle building, or aerobic exercises until that time to prepare. I'm getting mixed answers from searching. Any of you know anything about the sport and how to prepare for it?

Is it ineffective to try to do both? Or do you need to focus on just one to really get anything out of it?

On the subject of fruit, sometimes the place you buy fruit at can make a huge difference in their taste. I love strawberries, but I was almost put off them completely when my mom started getting them at Walmart. They always had a chemical taste to me, no matter how I washed them.

I also tried pre-packaged pomegranate seeds to see if they were worth not having all the work of getting the seeds out. They were disgusting and soggy. I'll buy my own pomegranate and spend two hours seeding it, thanks.

A few weeks ago I bought strawberries from the grocery I work at and they were the best strawberries I've tasted in a long time.

One way to seed pomegranates is to hold onto the half with one hand, and thwack it with a wooden spoon. all the seeds and almost none of the pith end up in the bowl with far less time. Plus, you get an arm workout.

My knowledge of it is from Hajime no Ippo, but it's written by a guy who part times a second so I'd say it's accurate. The answer would be both.
