I've wanted to check that out every time I pass it in a bookstore.

Reading My Tank is Fight! A pretty interesting book about the dumbest invention of WWII.

"The Vampire Lestat" from the Vampire Chronicles. Kinda annoying though, I'm halfway through and I've got to take it back to the library tomorrow so I don't get dad a fine on his book card thing.

if anyone needs a good book to read

I'm probably going to be buying myself a new book today. I'm looking for something fiction with a good but somewhat dark story. Any suggestions?

If fantasy is okay, then Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
I tried coming up with a good description to put here for a few minutes now, but I guess I'll just link you to the wikipedia article. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

If anyone is a fan of Norse mythology, you should go look up Nancy Farmer's The Sea of Trolls. Very good read.

WHAT IT'S ABOOT:
Jack is training to become a bard unbeknownst to his Orthodox Christian dad. Seeing as how it's AD 793 and they live on Ireland, Norse Vikings come and kidnap Jack and his 3 year old sister Judy (Jack's 10) for the slave trade. Over a sequence Jack must travel to the land of the Jotuns (trolls) to reach Yygdrasil to save his sister from the evil queen Frith, the half troll queen of the Norse who is also coincidentally Grendel's sister.
WILL HE SURVIVE?!

a 3-year-old would not do well in the slave trade
