I've been trying to find a rainbow bracelet or something like that to wear, because there is a time and a place for everything. And that time is "immediately after the SCOTUS makes marriage equality law" and the place is "the south".

But I can't find one anywhere. I'll have to ORDER one or something. jeez

Google Human Rights Campaign, they have a lot of equality/LGBT merch and the profits (hopefully, haven't really researched them) go to a good cause.

my husband made me a rainbow chainmail bracelet ages ago and it's a very nice subtle hint. it doesn't scream gay, but if you're already in that mindset it's a good hint.

i'm trying to think of a good way to incorporate the pan colours into this jacket i'm painting but i'm not coming up with anything that's maybe a little too obvious to wear around my religious family. i have the perfect opportunity in that i'm painting a cat skull on it and the nasal passage of cats is heart-shaped but i think that's a tad too heavy handed. sigh.

I am thinking that maybe pansexual describes me better than bisexual. :/ at least I'm not publicly out yet so it makes no difference anyway.

I really DON'T CARE what parts someone has. One or the other or both or something in between or none at all, I really don't care. Is that pan? Just not having any preference either way? I don't know... I had this friend in college who was pansexual. In between the endless torrent of cookware jokes she had to put up with from shitty college students, she explained her orientation a few times. She says it's more of an attraction to the heart of someone instead of the exterior appearance. I'm still an uptight picky loser about the people I do find attractive, so I definitely don't feel like the personality crush (???) she described pansexuality as to be the right word. But bisexual still feels wrong.

I came out to a bunch of people on FB as biromantic asexual today, got decent feedback.
I wasn't expecting something horrible given that most of them are pretty liberal so that's good.

the way i've described it as actual gender and sex blindness. i had to actually learn and memorize the differences between male and female, because on my own i never would have really connected it beyond the obvious penis/vagina thing. i've got it down pretty well now, but when it comes to attraction i simply do not factor it in at all.

gender also just does not matter to me. I'm somewhat confused that it is important to other people.

i feel like i might be weird on that front though, i just don't know. i can't get attraction to specific people based on physical sex or gender because i just see... people.

Read the first fucking comment.

Quote:
John Oliver is an example of liberal forsaking science in place of group think, and I say this as someone who is primarily a liberal. Trans people have body dysmorphic disorder, it's the same psychological delusional disorder that makes people with eating disorders see their bodies as "fat", that make people like Rachel Dolezal believe she is meant to have been born black, and for people like Stalking Cat to cosmetically change their bodies to resemble a tiger. This is why respected scientific institutes like John Hopkins University no longer perform sexual reassignment surgeries, because they have found that in most cases these surgeries did not correct the underlying mental issues, and that there have been cases of people wanting to revert back to their biological gender. Much like we don't pander to a schizophrenics delusions, but rather, treat the schizophrenia, we should not be encouraging the delusions of people with a dysmorphic disorder; these are not mentally stable individuals

Excuse me while I go beat my head against a wall repeatedly until I lose all sensation.

They are correct that Johns Hopkins doesn't do sex reassignment surgery because Paul McHugh is a complete twat. He seriously thinks all transwomen are insecure homosexual men or heterosexual men who get off to cross dressing.

I'm serious.

And I want to kill something now.

Well, my sister who is a medical student said that in their follow up research involving their patients, they said that the a lot of the time, the surgery didn't improve the quality of life. I have no idea on what they are basing the concepts of this quality of life, or how many individuals were involved in the follow up, or even what proportion "a lot" means.

It's not just because one dude is being a douche. A full panel of people came to this decision based on some kind of study. Which isn't to say that I think their decision is correct, but they actually put research into it. If they were just a bunch of bigots who wanted to deny different people happiness, then they probably wouldn't have been performing reassignment surgeries to begin with.

And again, this is not to say that I agree with the decision they made. It is also hypothetically possible that there was some miscommunication between my sister's academic materials, her words, and my hearing them.

It really depends on preference. You just can't be afraid of saying the wrong thing to a trans person. I'd much rather someone accidentally use an incorrect pronoun, allow me to correct it, and move on than be constantly asked what's OK to say to me.

That being said, I personally don't have a problem with someone calling me dude. At this point that word has pretty much become gender neutral with how often it's used, in my opinion.

Seriously considering coming out to my parents on the 4th.

I've been reading up on how to break the news and let them understand, they've had some issues understanding things in the past.(IE evolution)

This is a big deal to me, they are my main meal ticket. I live with a friend but my life will change dramatically if they want nothing to do with me.
I just don't want to lie to them anymore. I no longer want to pretend to be 'normal' so that I can still get the family stimulus package.
Image

I've prepared for this, as thoroughly as I think I could, I've saved up some cheddar just in case.
Image

But with my anxious predicting, I've decided that my mom will eventually accept it. I think she thinks I'm gay or something and has come to accept that.
My dad probs wont be too thrilled. I actually found out he isn't my biological father but that doesn't change a thing, if anything makes me love him more.

I'm pretty certain I can do this.
