Well, self-harming is generally, well, harmful, so I can see that causing some tension. I would hope it was concern for your well-being, and not accusations.

I don't even know, the situation was so hard to read. They asked me about the cuts/scars and it was uncomfortable.

Sometimes I feel like the world is going mad.

Things that used to be wrong are now ok, and things that used to be right are now considered weird, strange, and wrong. I feel like the world around me is constantly changing and swirling around like a whirlpool. I'm lucky that I have a lifeline that is constantly there but I constantly feel like the whirlpool is going to suck me in at any moment. I'm scared and I'm hoping I can hold on.

True, a lot has been made better and i'm glad for that but...

I'm kind of old fashioned. I think that People should only serious date when they are actually thinking about getting married. And I don't think people "sleeping together" outside of a married relationship is ok, but a lot of people think it is fine Also, people that have decided to change their gender. I love you guys on this forum and stuff and I try to respect your decision as it is yours to make, but i personally don't think it is right. I still love you guys as people though.

I... I don't know really how to describe it. I think it has a lot to do with being a mormon and all but...

I kind of wish I could live back in the 1840s.

Sorry if that made no sense, Even I am confused about the whole thing.

But but but readily available health and cleanliness :c. Bathing more than once a week was not really a thing until running water. Neither was most effective medicine.

Perhaps it's your upbringing that is causing this discomfort?

I really wouldn't specify "1840s", though. Seriously. Not that far back.

Hmm, I guess that could make sense. It was almost like culture shock when I found out the differences between my way of thinking and a lot of the rest of the worlds. I would say that most of my discomfort comes from me trying to be loving and kind to people of different views without compromising my own beliefs.

Also, 1840s... Well, I don't exactly want to say 1940s. I don't want part in WWII. I guess a better time would be the 60s

So you want full-on counterculture movement and Vietnam? No matter how far back you go, everyone will find that life will still suck for one major reason or another. Be pop flyin' with the advances and comforts that you have now, and figure out how to make peace with the issues that you dislike.

Wow.. That is kind of exactly what I needed to hear. I kept on feeling like I was born in the wrong time period for the longest time. Prehaps I was born in this time so that I would be given chalanges that God knew that only I had the strength to overcome. Sorry for going all mormon there but I truly feel that way.

Anyway. I feel a lot better now. Thank you guys! You rock!

I'd also like to point out that there has never been any consistant morality system, every society and generation have their own. I'm guessing you're yearning for something circa 1950's or so? Thing is, it wasnt actually like what you see on TV and whatnot, thats just a result of censorship and nostalgia.

Also, arent you a mormon? Werent they discriminated against like crazy?

Yeah, the entire state of Missouri puts up an extermination order for mormons, so they moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. But the mobs came again, murdered the prophet, then drove them out of the city. So we finally got sick of it and moved to Utah where hopefully people would stop trying to kill us. Things are a lot better for us now but it was pretty insane in the past

Things were pretty crazy all around if you werent exactly the right kind of white, straight, male christian. Have to be English-descended, have to be protestant, and god help you if you werent white or christian at all. And that shit kept up well into the 60s and 70s.

Yeah. Shit changes a lot. I'm sometimes a bit surprised but a lot of it doesn't affect me that much.

I have a friend who's Mormon. His parents are weird. He was less so, still a bit different. I don't see him much because his parents pulled him out if school because of a couple things. I miss seeing him more.
I'm sort if sad about seeing people less in general. One went to private school, one we just drifted apart. And part of it is that their pop flyin' with it. I'm glad for them but I sort of wish they'd wish they were back like I did.

I find Mormons really unsettling. Not because of their religion, but because a lot of them have this weird behavior, like theyre too creepily nice and pleasant. There's being nice, and then there's "here's your Kool-Aid WE ARE ALL ONE"
