Good luck. I've never been able to do pushups myself. Not because of a lack of arm strength, but because the length of my legs makes it painful as hell to use the pushup position

bodaciously anything that gets your blood pumping and your body moving: jogging on the spot, star jumps, dancing, flailing about.

I would recommend dancing (there are some very nice tutorials to be found in online video) or skipping rope, which is actually a lot of fun to learn I've found.

Who needs dance tutorials when you can just get a playlist on Grooveshark, turn off the lights, and hope your roommates don't hear your old wooden floorboards creaking as you pretend you're the center of attention in the dance club with everyone gazing in awe as you bust your sweet moves.

I can dream.

EDIT: As an actual fitness/health post, I have stopped drinking soda!! I am now seven months soda-free (except for a single rum & coke I had for Thanksgiving werp). It feels good, although in the past month I've been drinking these flavored sparkling water drinks, and I'm pretty sure I'm getting addicted to them as well because the carbonation is similar to soda and dey got dat sucralose (which is no bueno). Gotta stop drinkin' them now.

Haven't been exercising much other than the dancing above. I had started running for about three weeks during the summer, but then Washington got Mega Hot and I got Super Lazy and stopped. It's sad, because I always claimed I could never run with my asthma, but after consistent running of only a mile I no longer had asthma-riddled labored breathing by the end. It was awesome!

I don't know if I'll start running when I exercise again, but I'm considering it.

Sucralose, as a sweetener, does not actually contain any calories. Sometimes there's a bit of dextrose as a filler but never enough to make any impact.

Sweeteners are, however, disgusting.

I switched to sugar free Pepsi and Red Bull a few months ago, its the only beverages I like where the taste between the original and sugar free versions are negligible in difference. It works, my pants fit a lot looser. Which has a drawback in that the ykeep sliding down now and my old belt is basically unusable.

I also need to get back to the gym, I was sick most of December, so I havent been back since the 4th.

I hear the downside of artificial sweetener is it's actually much sweeter than regular sugar, and thus can increase your fondness/dependence on sweet food, which can lead to unhealthy eating habits.

I havent noticed any. If anything, I've eaten less sugar since switching. Maybe they use different sweetener here? I know they dont use corn syrup in regular soda.

It is much sweeter, that's why much less is used and that leads to the low calories. It evens out.

No it leads to low calories because they contain a negligible amount of calories for your body to absorb. They tend to be thousands of times sweeter than sugar, so they only have to add a little bit, maybe with something else as a filler.

Idk, the reason I want to avoid sucralose is because every doctor I've talked to has told me to stay away from artificial sweeteners if I can help it, because the chemicals in them are not good for you in the long run. It's why I've heard people say to stay away from diet sodas and just stick to cutting down on regular sodas.

I mean, in the end I'm just pop flyin' I've stopped drinking soda because I used to be to the point where I could drink a single 2 liter in a day and I am waaaay better for it. I had to struggle through a really sluggish period where I couldn't find the energy to do much of anything (The Colossal May Sugar Crash of 2014, never forget), but now I just have to make sure I'm not replacing that sugar source with candies and other super sweet goods.

I don't know if the "artificial sweeteners are super bad for you" opinion has facts to back it up, buuuut if I can mentally trick myself into eating less sweets by believing it, I'm okay with that. The first time I stopped drinking soda was because someone at my mom's office randomly mentioned that drinking dark soda (Pepsi, Coke, etc) would give you stomach ulcers, and I over-thought the idea so much that I just up and quit thinking I'd get ulcers too. Didn't help at the time that one of my high school friends had developed stomach ulcers so the idea of "Haha you're too young for that" flew out the window. Ah, impressionable youth.

Hah, people who still drink carbonated beverages on a regular basis. (I kid, I kid.) But seriously, I don't know how some people can afford to drink as much soda as they do. I mean, gaddaaaaang.
Really, sugar content aside, the carbonation can cause problems with your bladder and kidneys with consistent use, and I think I remember reading a thing that there might be a link to reduced bone density after lifelong soda consumption. But that could just be because you're drinking fizzy sugar water instead of eating/drinking things with appropriate mineral content. Not a problem with the soda itself.

I've given the artificial sweeteners a try, I think here's the thing, it's better to change your self by weaning your self off sweet food rather than substituting sweetener for sugar. It's a better habit to enjoy eating healthy in the first place than to make unhealthy foods less unhealthy if you catch my drift.

That and I heard that stevia is okay for you but has become a crop like palm oil, that is people are destroying precious natural habitats to use as stevia farms. I object to that morally so I don't really want to support that industry.

For some reason a lot of diet sodas and fake sugars appear to give me headaches. I don't know why, maybe it's just a coincidence, but it's happened often enough that I avoid them now. I am definitely trying to cut back on sodas in general though, I'll only get them if I'm going out to eat or something instead of buying them to drink at home.

Also I've been trying to find ways to appease my sweet tooth and chocolate cravings without junk food and candy. Plenty of fruit and maybe some chocolate-covered almonds are on my list. They'll still be decently bad for me but the almonds are filling enough that I only eat a few at a time.
